I have been a mail order customer of Mason Shoes since 1985. This is a mail order shoe manufacturer now known as B.A. Mason. During the past 18 years, I have purchased 15 pairs of their shoes in size 10 EEE. They have always fit right out of the box and I've never had a problem with them except for my last purchase.

On November 25, 2002 I called in and ordered a new pair of shoes in size 10 EEE charged to my Visa card. I received them in about a week and didn't take them out of the box until late December. After I tried to wear them, they seemed very uncomfortable. I alternated between the new shoes and my old shoes thinking that they would break in. After wearing the new shoes 10 to 12 times, they did not get any better and I had to stop wearing them as they hurt my feet.

On March 7, 2003, I wrote to their customer service department via email and explained this problem. I explained how the shoes are wide enough, but that they are a lot smaller in the toe area than any other pair of Mason Shoes I have worn in this size.

Their response was that I had 30 days to return them, but that their adjustment department was pretty fair and that I should return them anyway. I shipped them back on March 11,2003 at my expense along with a letter and copies of my email correspondence.

I received the same shoes back on March 24, 2003 with a form letter stating that there is no defect due to workmanship or materials.

I'm 46 years old and my shoe size hasn't changed. There is something wrong with these shoes. I'm out $93.00, and the 18 years I have been a loyal customer meant nothing to them. I recommend that consumers avoid doing business with this company.

Problem Resolved, Shortly after filing this report

AUTHOR: Craig - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 14, 2003

Shortly after filing this report, I was contacted by a customer service representative at B.A. Mason. She said that the person handling my account mishandled it. She offered to refund my money or replace the shoes. I asked for a pair of shoes that fit. I have since received a different pair of shoes that fit perfectly and I consider this matter resolved. I will continue to do business with them in the future. This complaint may be deleted.
