  1. We originally rented two units from Uncle Bob's on North Beach Street, Fort Worth, Texas because they didn't have a large size available to accomodate all our belongings at that time, March 2012. When I rented the units I had to pay for property insurance before they would rent the units to me. I got the minimum, $2000, because it was all I could afford at the time, and I had to cover both units. I chose Uncle Bob's because it was next to the apartments we lived in, and most importantly it was secured by high iron fencing and cameras, which i felt was a little more added security for my comfort.

  2. In September 2012, Chris, one of the property managers from the office, called me to inform me that one of our units had been broken into, along with several others. I was told the cameras showed a vehicle entering after another vehicle who accessed entry, and that the vehicle with more than one person didnt exit until hours later with various property placed in vehicle stolen from units. He informed me he had already conacted the police department about it, and he was calling affected customers to inform them.

  3. I called the Fort Worth police department, then I called Bader to file a claim. As I had only purchased $2,000, minimum amount, when all was said and done, of course that was all that was paid out. I still continued to pay rent, with added insurance, thinking that i should be able to get a house soon then i could move my stuff out.

  4. Shortly after this a larger unit became available and we ended up renitng it.However this unit that was in a strip of several units was not gated, it was located behind the office, but between the office and secured gated units. At this time we still had two units. Our intention was to consolidate two units into one. We had difficulty doing this because my husband is disabled, can do so much work when he has good days, but otherwise we have to ask for help to get moved, particularly when I was at work (which was right across the street!) So it was turning out to be a slow and tedious process. There were some months I ran late, but i continued paying rent, insurance and late fees, and staying in contact with the office, which by this time, now had new office people.

  5. When we got started moving our stuff from the smaller unit, we were having trouble opening the door to the unit and informed the manager. Couple of weeks later she informed us she would have a repair guy at our unit on certain date and time and suggessted one of us be there. My husband was there. He said he couldnt recall the guy doing alot, but he had seemed to look often at all the stiff we had in the unit. The repair guy had to come out another day to finish. Evenutually the door was easier to open.

  6. When my husband went to the unit one morning to put something in it, he said he looked at the lock that looked different, the key didn't fit, and he called me and asked me if i had changed the lock. I answered no, and told him to go talk to the office. The manager went with my husband to the unit, cut off the lock and opened the door.  To our surprise it was obviously ransacked, rummaged through, and things missing.  They went back to the ofice where the manager began looking at recorded video, and found where a vehicle was there, circled around, stopped at our unit, messed with the lock, opened the door, opened his trunk, took things out, and at some point, a kids bike he had in the car, was left in our unit. He closed the door, locked it and drove off.  As many times as we looked at the video, we could never make out the plates or see face of person who broke into our unit.  Just our unit.

  7. The manager and we called the Fort Worth Police Department. It was almost comical. Trading phone calls and messages and weeks later finally talking to a dectective, who had been away from the office, who didn't even seem interested in the case. We made a claim with Bader again. Needless to say, I felt like I was being ripped off again, because no matter what we listed as missing, we were only going to get paid $2000, the minimum.

  8. Weeks later i inquired about the insurance terms and limits and wanted to increase the limit. Of course, rates were going to increase, but I wanted to be fuly covered if there was any next time. I paid for up to 8,000 because that was all i could afford to do at the time, but at least it was a little more, and i had planned to increase it when I could afford to pay more.

  9. The week after i did this, it rained. We had gone to go put up stuff in the unit late that evening, and when we opened the door, OMG. Everything was wet. We had tools, mattresses, clothes, etc etc at the front, wet. How far back anything was wet we couldn't tell. I got my phone and took pictures. I contacted the office the next morning. When I told them what happened the manager just looked at me. I said did you hear what Im telling you, we have water damage to our property. It rained last couple days and when we came last night to put stuf up, we found our stuf soaked. She just looked at me, got up exasperated and went to the unit with us. She took pictures also, looked up and had said ...she wondered if the repair guy poked holes in the roof or walls when he was doing repairs. At that moment a thought entered my mind...did the repair guy break in our unit later, because he had been making comments on stuf he saw in the unit while he was working, according to my husband. I then called Bader to start another claim, and the manager said she would start her paperwork regarding the incident.

  10. As we were going through our things, we realized it wasnt going to be a one day inspection. We started taking thngs out, realizing damage was in further that what we thought. Our oldest son and his girl were helping us with this. My hasband had hurt himself moving around the unit picking up, moving, tossing things, so  our son began helping. It took several days. I finally had a claim together, although it was still minus lots of our damaged property because it was difficult to try to complete as my husband got hurt and I had to work. In between this time our kids helped. One or two nights they stayed at the unit moving things around, putting damange stuf in one area and making working room as they went along. The next day when we went to go hopefully finish, we saw an ambulance and police car there and the kids standing outside. When we got there, the police said the office called saying they heard screams coming from the unit and figured out we had people livng there. OMG again. Apparently our kids got arguing, the lock on the door was unlocked but had slid trough and kept the door from being opened. Girlfriend panicked and all the fuss casueed attention and we got it all right.

  11. The kids had said what they were doing there, we told them what they were doing there and someone came out with the kids were living there. No they werent. You could see where things were piled, and damaged, pathway and more things, chuncked instead of piled, and where they had sat down and rested. All the comotion escalated. The manager handed me letters indicated they entered the unit, found someone living there, and were evicting us and we had to move out in three days. I said we are paid through the end of the month no one was living there, and told her about husband getting hurt and kids helping us complete the list to make the claim. she said that claim isn't going to get paid because in good faith it is being denied. I told her, it is funny that only one of our units got damanged, the one that was worked on and the same one that was broken into. I had taken pictures of the other unit and tried showing them to her. she didn't look. I think she was surprised and had forgotten we had two units. She started saying I thought you moved.......stopped there and said no more.  We had found out that several other units had water damage also.

  12. The claim was denied. We were bing evicted. I couldnt find a lawyer or type of lawyer to handle this, frankly our world crumbled because of also having to move from where we were staying. Our son, me and my husband were the only ones moving. Couldn't find any more people to help. Got a unit at Uhaul Storage and Moving. When we had only  a half truck left to move we had arrived that last day, second week into the month we had already paid for, the manager just pulled up and put a lock on our door.  I couldn't believe it. I was so heartbroken, mad, disgusted, hurt, aching, tired and they go and do this. What? Did they want our stuff left still? Was it Uncle Bob people who broke into our unit? Why did they behave this way? Why do they want to keep our stuff?  As far as Im concerned, they stole the rest of the month from us, kept what we had left that were going to move in couple hours and be out completely, and they add insult to injury by behaving unprofessional and like thieves themselves.

  13. To this date, we havent been able to recover the remaining of our property, damaged property was never recovered or paid, and we were done unjustly. I researched Uncle Bob, and saw Bader Insurance in the internet that apparently our case is not the first incident. As a matter of fact, with what Ive read, it seems like Uncle Bobs and Bader work hand in hand and seem to be publicly stealing with a storefront that covers their actual criminal activity. I know that the manager was always in contact with the district or company CEO/CFO person, who was the one that I understand instruted the manager to evict us.  I have been trying to find a lawyer to handle our case. We feel so violated. Im also I dont know what was left behind that they kept, but Uncle Bobs stole that from us. We were paid til the end of the month. I dont care what they say about we had someone living there. They were helping us, they werent living there, they had their place, we were staying with another son not far from storage, and the claim hadn't been turned in yet at the time of that incident involving police called out to the unit.  For that matter if anyone was going to chance staying in the unit, it would have been me and my husband and dogs, and we would have fixed it up a little decently to accomodate us.
