Ill make this short and simple. I applied for a Banana Republic Credit Card at the store after being coaxed into it. I never apply for store credit cards but I was attempting to establish credit to get a home loan. I tried to pay the card off like 2 weeks after I got it as not to get any APR charges or late fees. That is when I came to realize it was made very hard to make a payment to them over the phone of online. The charge you to pay over the phone, and make you sign up for an outside company to pay online.

I called the company to ask how I could simply pay my bill before I incurred any fees. The customer service rep insured me that I would be sent the bill in mid April and could then simple pay the bill by mail. I went to go get a home loan a week later and I was told that I needed to pay the bill to improve my credit. I then sucked it up and decided to pay it over the phone and get charged 10 dollars then would be put on next months bill (in attempt to lock me into the card and keep my account open). When I called they said that my bill was due tomorrow and I would incur a late fee.

Well this was march and I had never received the bill. I was lied to by the costumer rep and forced into a late fee. I then tried to pay over the phone and got charged 10 dollars. I however couldn't pay them that 10 over the phone so got locked into another monthly bill, which I wont be able to pay without a fee and will prolly never get sent a bill.

I work at the Charleston, South Carolina Banana Republic and I am always a cashier there, so I deal mainly with the card services with getting people to open a card to save them money and earn them rewards.

I have a card of my own(I am only 20) and I found it extremely easy to pay a bill online for my Banana Card, they even have where you can set up automatic payments from your bank account every week/biweekly/monthly if you have a balance on there. There is no third party that you have to sign up for to pay off your banana card.

You just go to the website on the back of your card and register your card on the website and it'll have where you can pay your bill and you enter in a checking account/savings account/credit card/debit card number and voila. Your card is paid. Store cards are not a bad thing. It actually saves people tons of money, especially since the BR card is able to be used at Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy as well as Athleta and Piperlime. So it racks up those rewards AND you get extra days of savings during storewide sales that a regular non card holder customer will get.
