 Our 8 month old Rottweiler went in to get fixed on a Saturday. We took her in around 730 am and picked her up around 3. It was the usual vet and we like him quite a bit. Both of our dogs are on their wellness plan and we take them in quite a bit to the vet and to buy food, toys, etc. She seemed to do great and was in a little pain but that's to be expected. 3 days later I saw what looked like rash so we took her in and was told it was razor burn from shaving her. Scabs on her nipples and all. She developed a nasty cough a couple days later and called my neighbor (a vet of 30 years) and he said it was most likely kennel cough. I called Banfield and was told they couldn't see her for 3 days but that it was not kennel cough because she was vaccinated. Again on Monday we called to speak with the manager and were told they didn't have time unless we wanted to drop her off and they could check her out at some point. Drop the dog off at the place where she got the cough while she is this sick... he also said that his vet was right and it wasn't kennel cough. Keep in mind that the vaccine only protects from 3 strains out of hundreds.

So we took her to my neighbors clinic where she was diagnosed with kennel cough and given some medication to start getting better. We were very worried as she is our baby and was so so sick for days. All while pet smart refused to admit she may have kennel cough, to see her, or get her some medicine. I'm not sure why I pay so much each month to pet smart for our dogs' health plans. Our usual vet and receptionist there have been so wonderful but the manager and the other doctors have left a bad taste in our mouths. The vet cost us $150 and pet smart refuses to do anything or to look into the fact that there is kennel cough going through their facility. If they would have just admitted it and tried to help our girl I would have been more than understanding.

I just wanted my dog taken care of that's it. But it has been such a run around to get our girl better... I hope that banfield decides to do the right thing and I hope no one else has to go thru the same thing. They should have taken care of us for the amount of money we pay each month. I shouldn't have to pay another vet to take care of my dogs while I pay them every month. They need to reimburse us for the vet bill and clean up their clinic so that no one else has to deal with this. She went in to get fixed and came out with razor burn, scabs, and kennel cough. It was a terrible experience all in all and we are extremely disappointed. She is laying on my lap right now at 90 lbs struggling to move and breath. She is my best friend and I hope pet smart doesn't cause this for anyone else. Hopefully she will be just fine soon...
