A few months ago a few of us and my dog went camping near the Jersey shore. My dog had gotten sick and we took him to the banfield veternarian inside the petsmart located in Manahawkin, NJ. After examining my dog, the vet came in with paperwork that entailed giving my dog tests of all kinds to see what was the problem. They let us choose the tests, not telling us which ones were actually needed or not. So after all the tests come back not showing us whats wrong, the vet says to us that my dog wasn't showing any signs of what they were testing for. Then they come in with 2 prescriptions, which they could have prescribed in the first place, and give us a bill for over $200. I wrote the company emails wanting to know why they run their business like this and heres what transpired:

My name is AM. The bill was paid using my girlfriends credit card. We can be reached at...  My dogs name is B.The exact location of the Banfield we went to is 219 Stafford Park Blvd., Manahawkin, NJ 08050
The very rude nurse listed on the paper is angela pesapane. The dr, whom I may have seen for a total of 2 minutes in the hour and 1/2 while I was there name on this paper is leonard candela. Please get back to me soon because the way we were treated there is really unfair and I want something done about it ASAP!

Thank you for your email. I am sorry for your experience. I will require some additional information before I can move your concern forward for review.  Could you please provide me with the following:

 

-The client's name (If not under your own)

-The Pet's Name

-The exact location address of the Banfield, The Pet Hospital that you are referring to.

-A telephone number (including area code) where you can be reached.

 

Once I have this information, I will move your concern to the appropriate Field Representative to review your concern.

Hello, my name is A and I am Very displeased with the service of a particular nurse and her practices at your Manahawkin, NJ branch inside the petsmart. Yesterday morning I took my dog for a walk and when he had his bowl movement there was blood in his stool. Not knowing what this was , i took him to your facility as i was on vacation. The nurse was very unprofessional and rude. 1st she takes all his symptoms and goes to the dr. She comes back with a paper with about 5 tests listed on it adding up wards of $400. Being on vacation and having limited funds we did not know which of these tests would be best suited for my dog . Nor did she explain what tests were best for him either. So we have these tests done and she comes back with a newfound knowledge of knowing that these were probably not the best tests to be done because the symptoms shown are not what these tests are best suited for. The tests were  negative because these werent for the symptoms. Then she says well were gonna give him 2 injections and a prescription. My question is this. Where was this option of the injections and a prescription not presented before the tests were done. The tests did NOT tell them anything more than they already knew and costs us an extra  $100 to run. Then when were about to pay they do not accept our referral card for a first time visit. They could of told us about the way of prescription and injections BEFORE they had to run unnecessary an expensive test. Then have the nerve to not honor our referral coupon and tell us that the person who refferred us was not in the computer. THAT IS NOT OUR FAULT, NOR SHOULD WE HAVE TO HAVE PAID FOR IT. I would very much like to speak to 1 of the higher ups and if we dont come to a better resolution to this I WILL be going the way of the media and posting very effective blogs on why not to choose banfield as a choice in peoples pet care. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon.

 

After all was said and done, they want to contact you on their time not yours. They call you when your at work and when you call back, the timing for them is "inconvienent". They are a major business and they need to be brought down a few notches because this is not professional!
