I spent all of two months working for Bankers.
My trainer was incompetant, closed only one sales with me (it took 5 hours @) and was late for every appointment (up to an hour and a half). I finally stopped telling him he had tucked his shirt into the back of his underpants. I dutifully followed the steps to success.

150 dials, scripts before me, before lunch and 150 more after lunch. 20% prox. of the calls were "do not call". All the leads provided by Bankers were already extensively churned. Of the few calls that actually were answered, the most common comment from the prospect was "you Bankers agents call me all the time", followed by a hang up. Desperation in the call room hung like a cloud.

One of the most endearing phrases I took away from the training experience was "open the worry box". For my two months of day long, evening and Sat. and Sunday dails and a few appointments I was paid $122.02. Bankers has billed me $752.00 for leads and E&O coverage. I offered to pay for the E&O, however they turned me over to a collection agency. My trainer wrote some business on his own and was splitting it with me, however everything he wrote was cancelled. How convenient.

Does any one reading this have any insight to provide ? I saw a few agents who were somewhat successful through connections they already had, but most were starving.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Banker's SUCKS, don't become an agent with them!

You don't have to pay the E&O by the way.  Ask them to show you a copy of where you signed that you agree to pay for a whole year if you leave or your contract is terminated.  I asked them this, and they never got back to me.  Never showed up on credit report.  They totally lie.  I was also only there for about 2 months as a new agent.  I soon learned there are MUCH better companies out there to support, train and compensate you.

The problems you've written about seem rife in the insurance industry.

Like you, I was tasked to set appointments that were never seen.  No call, nothing!

Like you, I was lured with money but my last three weekly paychecks were $12, $14 and $2.44.  This was with another company.

I was lead to believe I would get more than enough leads.  In fact, in my last three months with the company, I got exactly 1 lead!

Like you, most of my sales were cancelled by the customer but so far, I haven't had any collection agencies calling me trying to get the commissions back.  FAT CHANCE!

I'm wondering when my company is going to install a revolving door on the sales room to accomodate all the new agents coming and going.
