How easy is it to remove money from an account? Well it turns out you just need the checking account number and the bank routing number, all found on your check. That’s it. Just go online and setup ACH transactions and have them pay from whatever account you want. There is absolutely zero checks, no protective IID required, you can even use someone else’s name, doesn’t matter at least at Banner Bank.

Every other bank surveyed have sufficient safeguards, not Banner Bank. How do they handle the customer when Fraud comes up, they make the customer responsible citing rediculous reporting times. They use 1977 technology and then force the business to absorb their lack of oversite. None of the 20 transactions were authorized by us, Banner Bank made to effort to contact us even when the payee/pator didn’t match our account vesting. Why? Because they really don’t care because they will stick it to the customer and won’t see the loss.

ID Theft??

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, August 20, 2018

You probably have larger issues at hand than what you describe - specifically someone may have stolen your identity.  It would be easy for someone to initiate an ACH transaction from your bank account if they had your confirming information in their possession.  You should do the following:

  • You should check your credit report immediately to make sure no other credit accounts were opened in your name.  If there are....you have a long road ahead of you.... to clear this up.
  • If there is ID theft, then you should go to the local police in your city and file a police report for theft (money and ID)
  • If there is ID theft, then contact your local state agency in charge of ID's and let them know your ID may have been stolen
  • If there is ID theft, then you should contact all of the credit reporting agencies and notify them of your ID theft.  Place alerts and possibly freeze all of your credit reports.
  • If there is ID theft, then you should close your account and be very careful where you open a new account.

If there is ID theft, this would obviously not be the bank's fault because they have no idea your ID may have been stolen.  The person who stole your ID would have been indistinguishable from you.  Best of luck to you....
