BarkBusters What a Joke!! The Colony Texas

My signigicant other has a dog that has vicioulsy attacked me several times, which required a visit to the ER and a nerve speicalist and a sports injury doctor.  The diagnosis is severe nerve damage to both my right and left hands and wrists.  The vet advised that the male dog be neutered, he was put on a prescriptive "doggie Prozac" and we were told to contact BarkBusters for aggressive behavioral training.

The man came to our house and went through his flip chart explanation, talking at us as though we had NO experience with dogs.  He recommended we sign up my puppy as he was also viciously attacked by the dog and said the dogs would get along better, and it was just $150 extra.

My father bred, owned and sold German Shepherds, Belgian Shephers and Brittany Spaniels.  I have also had numerous dogs through the years and have never had to use a trainer.  I did just fine with what this BB trainer was telling me was old school, commands such as:  No, Stop, Heel, Come, (infact, I've taught my dog to come by tapping the floor or ground), my dog also shakes on command, plays dead, sits up and speaks on command.

After his choppy and confusing flip chart (a power snooze), he went on to his briefcase of training tools, somesort of beanbag thing, a squirt bottle, a muzzle, which none would fit the dog due to his short snout, special collars and leashes.  My signigicant other fell 'hook, line and sinker', after adding in the two collars (choke), and 2 leashes, the total was $761.00. I felt it was outrageous but if altered the behavior of the biting dog, what the hay.

Then we started with the training, and that's where the train came off the track.  I don't like a choker for my puppy, he does just fine with a harness, but allowed him to put the colar on my dog.  He didn't respond well to him and in fact, was afraid of the other dog and didn't want to get near him.  It pained me to watch him dragging my puppy (choking) him up the driveway.  He told us not to use the dogs name but these goofy noises, like a throaty bahhhhhhhhhhhhh, if they don't listen then you squirt them with the water bottle.

He didn't think my tone was harsh enough and wasted 20 minutes chastizing me about command tones.  I know what command tones are and my dog was not the problem.  I found the guy to be rude, argumentative and full of it!!!!  He complained about what a busy week it had been because he had just come back from his first 2 week training in Colorado.

The whole new scheme of what to do and not to do was an overload.  The aggressive dog was on his best behavior because he had been given his Prozac earlier in the day a preparation for the trainer.  Later in the evening the dog went beserk and all of his goofy commands and saturating the dog with water didn't do a thing.  I couldn't help buy laugh watching the whole scene, the bahhhhhhhhh definitely doesn't work.  The dog does know the word NO when used in a comanding tone.

Save your money, this is clearly a scam and they do not have knowledgable, well trained or experienced trainers.  If you want your dog subjected to a confusing new set of commands, tabusively reated like a rodent then maybe this method will work for you.  It's little consolation for my significant other that he won't be able to get a refund.  And there is NO WAY I will subject my sweet loving little pupply to another class.  I've taught him with love not abuse and I want him to stay lovable.

So be sure to check out the other online complaints about BarkBusters and find a personal trainer, it can't possibly cost more and you'll get someone with a good reputation.
