Barrow's Jewelers, 2015 Glendale Ave., Toledo, OH. 43619. 419-385-6114.

I own a Citizen Navihawk watch (C300-Q00214 TA GN-4-S). It has both digital and analog features.

It was starting to slow down and eventually stopped running. All it needed was a new battery. I took my watch to Barrow's Jewelers (on Nov. 17, 2007), because it was a nice watch and I didn't want to screw up something. When they saw my Citizen, they were in awe and told me that they had never seen one before. That should have been my clue to run!

Maybe I SHOULD have tried to replace the battery. I couldn't have done any worse than Barrow's Jewelers.

I went back to Barrow's a few days later, to pick up my (supposedly repaired) watch. When I got back to my car, I was going to program my watch and wear it home.

None of the buttons would respond, and every digital character was lit up. There were even things lit up, that I had never seen before and looked rather strange.

I went directly back into Barrow's. I told them about the watch and they said to leave it again and they would double check their job.

When they called again, to tell me my watch was done, they said that the watch was irreparable and would have to be sent to Citizen's repair facility in California.

They gave me my money back for installing the battery, but that won't replace a watch that's worth $250 to $500 (depending on year and condition).

I filed a complaint with the Toledo BBB, but that's pointless. The BBB is a worthless organization. All they do is take your complaint and the business's response and then say that the case was resolved. Whether or not you are satisfied, does not matter to the BBB.

Don't use Barrow's Jewelers for ANY watch repair. If they can't handle a simple battery replacement, I wouldn't trust them with anything.

Watch was not damaged

AUTHOR: Jeremy - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 13, 2021

Without the necessary experience of this citizen c300 watch even the best of jewellers can get their jewels handed to them. The client mentioned that the display was lit up with all digital symbols at same time....this indicates the movement is in all reset mode after the battery change. It is not damaged the reset procedure was not performed when in that mode....extremely easy to complete!!!!!

Client gets an F for smearing a business after an unfortunate mistake. Jeweller gets a D for failing to obtain necessary tech data guide to remedy a simple task and sending client to manufacturer unecessarily.

NOT BUYING A NEW WATCH

AUTHOR: Zitune25 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 15, 2011

I am one of three owners of Barrows Jewelers. I think its amazing how people make determinations as this man did that "all his watch needed was a battery". How does he know that. How can that be the only thing possibly wrong. The real problem is that he wanted it fixed for nothing. He truly believes that we damaged his watch by changing the battery. This is as easy as changing a car battery. The watch had seen better days and this man wanted us to buy him a new watch. My only regret that it took a customer to bring this site to my attention or I would have responded immediately. We have been here for 33 years and live solely on repeat and referral business. You dont survive 33 years by intentionally destroying peoples property ornot living up to a mistake you might have made.

In closing I feel sorry if he goes to get his engine tuned up and his transmission falls in the street, I am sure he will expect that poor soul to buy him a new car.
