On May 3, 2006 my wife and I attended a show at Bart Reed's Comic strip on North Mesa in El Paso, Tx. I occasionally go there and have never had problems in the past but when I attended a show of the Chinaman this last time I ordered a "Ellen Degenerous" Burger.

There was no unusual wait time, everything seemed fine and I began eating the burger. About halfway through eating the burger my wife noticed a hair coming out of the back of the burger. Now keep in mind this is a dark club and hard to notice small things, especially if in your food. What was so bad was not that it was just one single hair, but that the one single hair was attached to a large clump of hair that was literally STUCK to the meat of the burger.

The best I can describe this clump to you is for any woman or man with long hair that has cleaned up their bathtub drain and stuck their fingers down the drain catch to pull the fallen hairs. This is exactly what that clump looked like. My only guess as to where this clump may have come from, and this is assuming that this clump was not put intentially in the burger, is that the meat may have fallen on the floor near a kitchen drain, was picked up and placed on my burger. At the worst possible scenario, some disgruntled cook grabbed a wad of hair and shoved it on the burger.

Obviously I was thouroughly disgusted, showed my waiter, and his reaction was just as disgusted as mine, he immediately took my plate and returned with a new burger about 20 minutes later. I obviously inspected the burger thouroughly and then ate that burger, but at the end of the night I ended up getting charged for that burger. I asked that even though the situation that occured I'm still getting charged, his reply was that "you still got a burger" I didn't want to argue with the server as the show was still going on, so I went ahead and paid the waiter.

Before I left the restaurant I went to find either a manager or the owner (Bart Reed) and was informed by security that if I wanted to wait for the owner I'd have to wait at least an hour after they finished up. I would think something like this may take a little priority over cleanup at night but apparently not. I gave my business card to the doorman and he told me he would ensure that Bart Reed recieved the card and would call me back.
I never recieved a call back, not the next day, nor days later. I called back periodically through the weekend and was informed by staff that he was either busy, wouldn't take the call, would supposedly call me back, name the reason I recieved it.

I am not so upset that there was hair in my burger, I am thourougly disgusted at that fact, but not angry. I am upset that Bart Reed never once attempted to make contact, explain themselves, and that a business with strong roots in El Paso would simply blow off a very bad experience. Obviously the Comic Strip has moved to the eastside, and their facilities are probably very different, but I'm sure it won't be too long before someone else recieves a burger or meal similar to mine, and is disregarded as not important enough to bother with.

Bart Reed has obviously proven that it isn't important for him to run a clean restaurant. He has proven to me that he cares very little about the people that support his business and line his pockets. In fact that is apparent to me all he cares about is the final buck, so long as he got his money out of me, he dosen't care what happens to me, or anyone else that attends his club. For that reason I believe he and his club should be considered a SEVERE RIP-OFF.

Seems "José" likes to refer to himself in the Third Person just like Dotard.

Absurd!

This is absurd and never happened. Probably a feeble attempt at retaliation for being ejected from the club. There is absolutely no way this ever happened at my establishment.

How unprofessional to not even call back nor respond in any way. Even though Reed is most likely afraid that Jose will sue him or something, he should at least be a man and respond to the messages. I shall never go to that club again!
