In January 2004 I recieved a promotional letter in the mail from Bath fitters for a seamless wall system to replace my old bath. I decieded that it would not hurt to get a free quote by them so I decided to make a appointment.

About two weeks later a sales person came by the house and went over everything that bath fitters had to offer, He took his time going over everything from top to bottom and fully explained to me that after they installed there unit it I would not be able to tell that there was a liner on top of the existing tub and that there system was a seamless system and that I would never have to worry about mold on the caulk lines.

At the time I was very excited about never having to scrub the wall seems for mold every other week so I decieded to give him the deposit. about a month had past and Bath Fitters contacted me to set up the installation, We asked if Saturday morning would be a problem and they told us that they wanted to start at 08:00am so they would be able to complet the whole job in one day. that following Saturday we waited until about 10:30 when they finally showed up, It took them around 9 hours to do the job and after they had completed it the installer wanted to go over everything that they had done. T

his is when I first relized that this unit was not a true seamless unit, All walls were 1/4 thick acrilic plastic and they were installed ontop of foam pads. I tried to explain to the installer that we paid for a seamless system and he told me that the sales person that did this had mis lead us by telling us that. At this point I was still happy with bath fitters and over all my bathroom looked much better.

The next day 24 hours after the install I was able to take my first shower. While in the shower I started to notice that the drain was not draining the water very well and that the water was backing back up in the tub, knowing that this had not ever happened before I contacted Bath fitter to see if they could stop by and see if when they broke up the tile it might have been clogged up in the drain. Two days went by and the installer stop over and spent an hour or so working in it, He finally decieded to go to the hardware store and by some drain cleaner.

He added it and told me that he thought his partner had vacummed the drain after they broke up all the tile and that his installer had only been working with him for a few weeks and that he was going to start sales real soon, He told me that I should wait for and hour and see if the drain start working. He also told me that if this does not work I will have to call a plumber to break down the trap and ungloge anything that might be stuck in it. The next morning the water was still backed up in the bath and against better judgement I contacted a plumber and had them come out for a day of unglogging.

The plumber broke open the trap to see it was filled up with tile, But this is not the only problem the underground drain was also filled up with tile and concrete from the installation. about a month later while I was in the shower I started to notice that water had started building up between the tub and the liner, I called Bath fitters and they sent out the installers partner, Remember this is the same guy that just started working for bath fitters when my tub liner was installed.

After he showed up he started trying to tell my that the water must be comming from the outside window, I tried to explain to him that I installed that window 6 years ago and never had any water problems and that if the window was leaking then there would be water all down my basement walls. He then decided that he would re-caulk around the window and pull up the drain and try to work the water out after about a half hour or so the installer told me that the tub might be bad and that if the water fills back up under the tub that they would replace the liner for free.

three weeks goes by and the problem is still there. I contacted bath fitter and two weeks later the same guy came out and told me that he would contact the supervisor and him contact me in two days about reeplacing the liner. Its been a week and I have called them three times to see what they want to do. Had I known that this project would last 7 months and $4575.00 I would have went with the full bathroom replacement and saved my self a few bucks.
