In October of 2015, Curtis Batiste of Batiste Interior Professionals, Inc. RRP came to my school to take measurements for installing a stair lift. Our school is required to have a stair lift for students with disabilities. After taking all measurements, Curtis presented us with a proposal that outlined the scope of work and the price to install the stair lift. The proposal stated the total project would cost the school $4,669.99.

We agreed to the proposal and Curtis stated that we would have to give him a 50% deposit before he starts any work. We endorsed a check for $2,335 and gave it to Curtis. Three weeks later, I reached out to Curtis to see when he would begin to install the lift. His response was that he was waiting for some supplies and equipment to be delivered. A week later, Curtis showed up at our school and stated that he needed to take some new measurements of the stairs where the lift would be installed. It was at this point when Curtis notified us that he would not be able to install the lift that he quoted us in his original proposal.

Curtis stated that the city told him that he could install the lift, but then around and told him that he couldn’t. At that point Curtis lost all credibility with us. We asked him to refund the money that we gave him and to submit us another proposal for the new scope of work. After that conversation with Curtis, he stopped returning our phone calls and has never refunded any of our money.

If you look on the company’s website and Facebook page you will see displays of work that this guy has completed. The person who referred him to us stated that his work was satisfactory. With all that being said, why did he run off with our money? Why has he placed a hardship on our students with disabilities?

I am not writing this report to sabotage this guy’s business. If that was the case I would have done this a few months ago. Remember we paid him back in October 2015. I just want to give others a heads up on what they could possibly be getting into when doing business with this guy. We want you all to know that he ripped us off.
