Baughman Co. Inc Reese Evans Check- Survey Winner Vancouver, Nationwide

I recieved a letter and check at my home in NC. The letter seemed to come from a company Baughman Co. Inc saying that I was the "lucky" winner of a $9700 cash prize for filling out a survey. Within the letter was a check for $994.88. The check looked real but did not have a bank address. The letter continued to say this was my last chance to claim my prize and I would have to call Reese Evans 905-782-0443 to claim the rest. It also stated i would have to pay taxes at the end of the year on the full amount. After trying for 2 days I finally got in contact with someone at the number who claimed the check was valid and I could cash it right away, they also claimed I would recieve the remaining amount via FedEx within 2 days. I took the check to my bank to have it checked out, the teller told me there were 5 other checks for the exact same amount that had already come back as fraudulent. The letter stated in bold that they abide by US federal law.
