These people are driving me up the wall with the constant phone calls! I dread the sound of my cell phone ringing because of these nutjobs!

Since March 2009 I have been receiving phone calls from this company on my cell phone more than one a day on a daily basis. Yesterday alone I received six phone calls from them. If they get voicemail they never leave a message and half the time when my husband or I answer there is just silence.

I finally was able to speak to someone the other night when they called me at 9:30 p.m. The person on the other end asked me about twenty times who I was, even though I kept repeatedly telling him who I was, and wouldn't even tell me what the call was regarding. As these people sound like they are Indian and barely speak a lick of English, there is a major language barrier.

Out of frustration on my part my husband spoke to the latest representative and asked them to stop calling. The representative asked my husband what the reasoning was on why I want them to stop calling me. I guess he fails to understand harassment. When they proceeded to tell him they would not stop calling, my husband asked them for their business address so I can send a statement to them in writing to stop the harassing phone calls. After twenty questions on their part on why we need their address, they finally gave it to him.

With the next phone call my husband asked for a supervisor and explained the situation. The supervisor stated Bay Area Collections are not allowed to make more than one phone call a day to a particular person and assured him I would be removed from their call list. Obviously that didn't happen.

I guess my husband's voice scares the crap out of them (his voice is pretty deep) because today the female representative wouldn't answer him when he asked what the call was regarding and hung up on him. lol

Also it seems really fishy that they sure know my phone number but have not sent me one piece of info stating in writing what their calls are pertaining to.

Hmm...I smell SCAM big time!!!

same issue, but found a fix

AUTHOR: K M Mccanless - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 04, 2009

I have recently had to deal with this same issue. I found out that the company is located near Philidelphia, PA, and is known to call numbers not only more than once per day, but also without prior confirmation as to weather they have the correct number. In my case they were calling my number trying to use strong arm tactics to collect a debt from someone I don't even know. I had to locate the company name because they would not even tell me who they were or who they represented, but it is very easy to locate them by way of the number they called from. I then found out that they do have a website, that will allow you to contact them through email, and tell them to stop calling. This is what I did to get them to stop, and I have yet to get a call from them again.

Just be wary

It has gone away right now, but that debt is still out there somewhere. You may want to start researching where it came from and seeing if you can resolve it before they sell it to another agency.

fair debt collection act

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 13, 2009

Okay, you need to send them a certified cease and desist letter. There are many websites out there that have them available for printout. This is the only way to stop the phone calls.

Under the fair debt collection act they can only call you once a day, but that only counts if they talk to you. If you ignore the call or let it go to voice mail, they can keep calling until they speak with a person.

You state the company is "bay area collections" but filed this under telemarketers? Which is it? If they are a collection agency they are not bound by the state or federal do not call list, a telemarketer would be.

If its a collection agency have you requested validation of the debt to see if it is indeed a debt you owe?
