Managing your account with BB&T is very difficult. If you use your ATM card for a transaction, sometimes it does not appear on your account for a week or more. Cash deposits made before 2PM do not show up the next day, but on the following day.
deposits made after 2PM do not show up for 2 days. NSF penalties are posted before deposits are made on the same day, causing the deposit to be used for NSF penalties rather than to bring account up to date. I have had this problem with a credit union also.
All of the online transactions are supposed to make life easier, in fact it is making life very frustrating, complicated and expensive for the average consumer. I am seriously thinking about going back to cash and money orders.

Sorry but YOU don't have a clue what you are talking about. When the previous guy, not BRAD said that cash deposits made before 2pm are credited during "normal processing hours before 12am. This means that at the 2pm cutoff at a bank all the work is sent to their "proof dept" for processing. These proof operators work from about 5pm until 1pm. That would be the normal processing hours. The deposits made before 2pm that day are processed at that time.
Thanks for letting him know the date when BB&T started making cash available all day. This means that when you take CASH into a branch it will show in your available balance BEFORE you walk out the door or drive out of the drive thru. Now, next time you want to give advice or an opinion, like Brad, make sure you know your facts before you begin "spouting off" Have a wonderful new year. LOL

About Cash Deposits

I see that this rebuttal was done quite some time ago, but here at the BB&T in Fayetteville, NC, Cash Deposits were not posted "available" the same day until just recently. I believe it was 08/2006 that they implemented that policy. I thought that was completely asinine since, just as you said, every bank since I held my first job in 1995 in SD, California credited cash deposits immediately. Just another way that BB&T fails to meet the needs of their consumers.
Sorry BB&T employee.

"D", it's wonderful that you have been able to lay out the facts and come to the aid of the author of this post. I especially love how you managed to add your cynical, belittling tone to your response. This is something I've come to know and love about BB&T employees.
So, how was BB&T's Christmas party this year? Were you invited? If not, that should tell you something...It shows that the company really only appreciates those at the top of the managerial chain. It shows that ultimately, we should be here to support each other, not a corporation who will probably reduce your pension or fire you 2 years before retirement.
It's okay though, I understand. We all have our own things to believe in. It's unfortunate that the author put his faith in BB&T. Maybe he should take your advice and revert back to cash and money orders...because with an attitude like yours and access to so many bank accounts; that could be a recipe for disaster. I hope that you will be able to find more constructive solutions for your customers.
Have a nice holiday and a happy new year.

Get your facts straight

Perhaps you should get your facts straight before mouting off asinine accusations.
First of all, deposits at BB&T made before 2PM are credited to an account during normal processing hours around 12am the same day. Deposits made after 2pm are credited the next business day at midnight. Seriously, how in the world do you expect any bank to credit account immedietly, could you imagine the tons of logistical problems this would cause, not to mention the severe risk of fraud? This is the reason the whole 2-to-2 system was created.
As with cash withdrawals, BB&T (along with most banks) has the ability to "mark up" a deposit, giving you credit the same day as long as you're physically depositing cash. It's not something they'll do for you every time, but in an emergency see a manager to get it done.
As for the ATM transactions, yes they do show up immedietly. The amounts you spend are automatically deducted from an "available balance" -- and while they don't show up on transaction histories imedietly, the purchase is almost instantaniously deducted from this available balance. Too lazy to check your available balance? Learn to balance your checkbook and quit trying to pass the blame on someone else.
Finally, as with any major bank, BB&T's deposit's credit before any debits -- it's as clear as day on any transaction history I've ever recieved from them. If I make a deposit of $100 on Tuesday before 2 and I have a check clearing for $100 on Tuesday, the deposit will go in before the check goes out.
Perhaps you should go back to using cash and money orders; using a bank can be ultimately rewarding with a bit of self-discipline, but the inability to keep track of your finances will ultimately land you with a ton of fees, an empty pocket and a whiney message board post.
