I was trying to get divorce, i called a 1800 number and they contact me with a (lawyer), this company asked me for a 150 dollars to start the case.. so i gave them my credit card number.. after checking my balance i discover that they took more than 150, so i call the bank to stop this from happening during the process.. after a while the bank send me a letter saying that they review my case and they are going to give this fraud company my money.. the fraud company send the bank wrong information about me.. and the bank send me a letter saying that their investigation was correct against me with all this bad information.. nothing in the evidence from the merchant is on my name, but the bank still agree with that wrong information and they gave them my money... when i recieved the letter from them i got it late.. somehow the 30 days that i have to send the letter back was 10 days aways, i didnt noticed that after a while.... so i send the letter saying that there no evidence saying that i approved this transaction but still the bank gave them the money to the fraud merchant....
i called many times and they told me 3 diferent stories, one was that they reopend the case and i will get my money back, after 30 days i call back, and they told me they send me a letter to do a follow up, and after that they told me that there is nothing they can do and i lost my money to this fraud merchant, i even send them evidence from another person that was a victim from this merchant and well that how BB&t show me how valued customer i am... very dissapointed........

"somehow the 30 days that i have to send the letter back was 10 days aways, i didnt noticed that after a while"
You have certain, strict time limits on disputes, reporting fraud, reporting lost/stolen cards, etc. You took too long to get the info back to the bank. Where you ripped off??? Yeah. was it the bank who did it??? NO, it was your use of the company without checking them out. You authorized the bank draft, the bank processed the bank draft.
Even if you had responded in time it would have been difficult to process as fraud since you authorized the transaction.

Part of the problem you're facing is due to the definitions that bank use. To a bank, a transaction that is a fraud is one with a company that you have had no business with. One that you have not authorized any transactions with at all. Since you authorized the transaction, there is no fraud.
The dispute is in the amount taken by the company, so you would have a dispute over the amount, not a fraud case. All the company has to do is so you authorized a single transaction and as far as the bank is concerned there's no fraud. I'd suggest contacting the bank again to diapute the amount of the charge but do not use the word fraud when speaking with them.
Hope this helps and good luck in getting this corrected.
