BBU Services Fraud! Check Scam! Silver Springs, Nevada

This scam involves a company that calls itself BBU Services. The address is:

2840 Hwy 95. Silver Spring Nevada 89429

Their contact number is listed as 1-877-456-5171.

The scam is that they write a check using your name. They don't have your address, and the address they loisted on the check was nowhere near my address. In fact, it was in another state! The account number was even wrong. They wrote the check on my wife's account using my name, but I am not on my wife's checking acount!

The scam continues when you call the number. They will say that they are a bill service and do not know anything about you, but it is interesting that they offer to "pull up" your information, first trying your name, then your address, then (get this!) they ask for the account number! Don't give it to them!

The actions we took were: We immediately closed our account and opened a new one. I called the FBI and made a formal report to IC3, a reporting tool the FBI uses to home in on criminals like this. The bank refunded the money.

If you have had this happen to you, make some noise! Report it to the FBI, post something on the WEB, and contactg your bank to protect yourself.

My opinion is that this relatively small charge looks so much like a purchase that most people will overlook it, and the few that complain will not amount to much.
