To Whom It May Concern:

On May 1st, I placed an online order for several home goods including a 1,000 Thread Count sheet set, coverlet set and a mattress pad.  The gift was a Mother's Day gift and scheduled to deliver directly to my parents' house.  Bed Bath & Beyond shipped the merchandise in three separate shipments.  All three items were received; however, the bed sheets were incorrect.  The warehouse shipped a 500 count thread sheet set, not the 1,000 thread count that I ordered.  Bed Bath & Beyond charged my card $159.99 for this item.

My mother advised me of the mistake on 5/5 when the order delivered.  Below is that tracking information.

UPS Tracking # 1Z44VY04YW38258011

I contacted a customer service representative over the phone on 5/6 to explain the issue.  The warehouse employer clearly did not read the product label and the rigmarole begins.  The customer service representative proceeded to tell me that they cannot ship me the correct product until I returned the wrong item back to them.  I explained that this unacceptable.  The customer service representative assigned me a case number #200505-016717.  The case number stated that it would take 3 business days to process a new order.  In reality, I already had an existing order from 5/1.  Nevertheless, the issues persisted.  I had to call Bed Bath & Beyond on 5/7 to request that they email me the return label they promised during the 5/6 call with the customer service representative.  The CSR emailed me the return label and I shipped the item out the next day, which they have received.

Today is 5/15 and I still have not received the correct item and I am out $159.99.  Bed Bath & Beyond doesn’t answer the phone, the live chat backlog takes an entire day, no response to email, etc.  I even attempted to post tweets to their Twitter handle and I only receive automated messages with no substance.  I have tried for 4 straight days to get a live person with no success.

I expect Bed Bath & Beyond to fulfill my order or refund my money.  Furthermore, I demand a response from a live person via phone or email.  The retailer should not accept e-commerce orders if they have no plans to complete the order with the correct product.  Coronavirus is an easy excuse that Bed Bath & Beyond is using to evade customers and steal money.  I waited the 3 day processing period, have received no shipment or tracking information and I plan to submit consumer complaints through various organizations until the company remedies the situation.

Regards,

David F. Crow
