Two employees (one being the store manager) understood we were looking for a soft tempurpedic mattress. We liked a particular model, but they only had a medium firmness one in stock. They both proceeded to sell us the medium saying we would never know the difference. We asked many times if it would be as soft as the floor model (soft- not medium model). We explained how we were worried about there being a difference and they kept pressing that no one can ever tell the difference.
They basically made us feel silly for worrying about it. So we were sold. Literally, they sold us. The day the mattress arrived it was like laying on a counter top. We called and they said give it a few weeks to break in. We gave it three. Still hard and not what we were looking for. Thinking we were crazy, we went to a few other mattress stores to see if we could compare. There's a huge difference and not one employee from the other stores could see how anyone could say anything different.
We went back to bed pros and asked the manager if there was a difference between a medium and soft tempurpedic (since he didn't recognize us). He said there was most definitely a difference. So we filled him in on who we were and why we were there. Suddenly his story changed to how most people can't tell a difference. He even went as far to say they did nothing wrong since they sent us the right bed that we ordered that day. Long story short, to get a new replacement we would have to pay for shipping again and of course there would be no refund.
We are now bound to this store and can't take our hard earned money elsewhere. The rude manager then asked us to leave the store because he was tired of angry customers like me coming back to get mad at him. Of course I wasn't using a soothing voice, but I was not yelling or making a scene either. Honesty, integrity, and satisfaction are not words you could use to describe this company. They are shady people that will make you believe anything just to make a sale. But I suppose some would say it's my fault for trusting people.

Lying Again?!!

I do hope you come up with a better way to record and monitor customer phone call inquiries. I did call within the first few days after receiving the mattress. I was told to give it more time and that's what I did. I also find it very clever how you twisted every detail. We did spend over an hour in your store- laying on the same soft mattress. We were told over and over again to go with the medium version because we would never notice the difference. It was very hard for us to walk away from the wonderful deal- discontinued mattress at a super price- the only difference would be this unimportant label of "medium". And here lies our only fault- if it's too good to be true...we should have known. But trust got the better of us.
When I came back to the store you were not sympathetic, nor did you seem to have much time for us. Of course we can do a comfort exchange- it will only cost us thousands to get what we really want now. Being discontinued, our mattress cannot be swapped out (how convenient). And without a refund, we are locked into buying something from your store and the next cheapest option for what we wanted is over a $1000 more. From the outside- it's the perfect scam! And then to have to pay a delivery fee on top of that? Kick em' while they're down I guess! You covered that angle too- suggesting I return and pick up my own mattress in Georgia. So all I have to do is drive for 6-10 hours. Perfect. Thanks for the help.
I asked you to waive the delivery fee considering we were lied to and "sold" in this situation. You said you couldn't possibly help us because it's a box you must check on your computer screen. I then asked to speak to a manager or owner and you told me you were the end of the line as far as contact goes. I did get upset in your store. I'm not sure many people in this world would have been giggling at this point. To be comfortable in a new bed we would have to fork over tons of additional money to the very people that scammed us. I didn't keep a calm voice. However I did not yell, scream, use poor word choices, nor did I make a scene.
As for the customer inside- I absolutely told him he should leave before you rip him off too. But I think that's called a good deed. And yes, that's when you called the police (and began literally yelling at me to leave). I waited outside for the officer because I wanted to make sure he knew what was going on- since you have my address I didn't want you lying to her/him as well and having any more hoops to jump through. While waiting outside I met a wonderful elderly couple. Of course I told them not to go into the store. We chatted, they made me laugh and even offered to buy my mattress! There are nice people out there, including myself- so no I didn't take them up on that offer!
Once the officer arrived I explained my side (knowing full and well you would have your own since lying to get what you want was already an established characteristic). He told me this was not the first time he had to come to this store for a similar situation. He then gave me advice- how to get a corporate number and to stand at the corner with a sign until you felt compelled to help me. I do not have time to stand outside with a sign, but if I ever cross paths with someone looking for a mattress I will certainly share my thoughts. He went in to talk to you and came out suggesting that I go "over your head". I thanked him and left actually smiling. It was a pleasure talking to this officer as he was very friendly (and a bit funny too).
The whole situation is disgusting. From the lies when we were face-to-face for over an hour. And then the incredible fabrication of events in your rebuttle. I posted on here because I saw there was already a similar report for this same store. It makes me very upset knowing other people might go through this as well. I also reported this scam to the BBB and there are other reports on there as well for this same store (and location). You can make yourself sound good, but your actions have been called out by others as well. I do not want a comfort exchange so I can give your store additional money. You only care about your bottom line and I will not add to that! Honesty and integrity bring back happy and loyal customers. Your tactics bring on ripoff reports and bad word-of-mouth references.

The Real Story

Customer came into the store on 5/31/2014 with her husband and two children. She walked right up and told me that she had purchased a bed from my store and seemed very nice. She said she was having a problem with her bed, that it was too hard. I said, no problem, as it is common for a customer to choose the wrong mattress after spending 10 minutes on it in the store. Before I could even enter her name to see what she purchased she said, "Problem is, I don’t want to have to pay a fee because you guys are liars." I looked up her file and could see that she bought a discontinued mattress for 50% off.
Customer has not contacted the store since delivery, as she claims. I can only assume that she was happy up until that point. She never paid any fee for shipping and was given free delivery. We only ask that she pays for second delivery. Customer was never lied to. She purchased based on the fact that she was getting a great deal. The mattress that she bought, knew she was buying, and was on her ticket is called a Simplicity Medium. It is obviously not going to be as soft as the Simplicity Soft. It's in the name of the mattress.
I told her that the companies policy is that, when you buy a mattress, you have a 30 day comfort exchange period in which you get 100% of what you paid for your mattress as a store credit to choose anything else in the store. She understood that and admitted to reading that on her original receipt on the day she purchased the bed but refused to pay the fee because the mattress was not as soft as her salesperson said it would be. The fee of $89.99 is a redelivery fee that is charged to redeliver a mattress. She was charged nothing for delivery of her first mattress. The $89.99 simply allows us to pick up the old mattress and drop off the new one, then send the customer’s old mattress back to the manufacturer so that we do not have a warehouse full of used mattresses to sell.
I even gave the customer the option to take home a bag and bring me her old mattress back and let her pick up the new one herself and would not charge her any fee. She then got up and started screaming at two other customers in the store that I am going to rip them off and that I am a con-man and would sell them used beds. Then when the customer looked up at me and her she started chanting "leave now while you can before he rips you off too." I explained to her that I am a commissioned based salesperson and she just took food out of my family’s mouth. She said that she did not care and started screaming at me from the other side of the store that she's going to call an attorney and that she has groups on Facebook that she would tell them bad things about me and completely ruin my business because she "always gets what she wants." I asked her to leave my store and not come back unless she can act civilly. She kept yelling and threatening me while randomly hurling insults at me. After refusing to leave, I threatened to call the sheriff. That didn't work, so I did call the sheriff. While waiting for the sheriff she stood outside and yelled at two other customers until they left. I am not sure how she can say that she did not make a scene because the sheriff sure thought she did when he had to force her to get inside of her vehicle and leave. I did not ask the she be trespassed because I genuinely do want to help every single customer to the best of my ability
If you do happen to read this rebottle, I am more that happy to help you with your comfort exchange. I must demand however, that you act civilly. You don't have to like me. We don’t have to be friends. Nothing makes me happier than making a customer happy, but talking trash about me on the internet and throwing a temper tantrum in my store will get you nowhere. You have until June, 6th to pick out a new mattress and pay the redelivery fee.
