"untrusting" = wise these days..

Too many scammers out there. My sister is in the cosmetics industry..well she does make-up for MTV in another country and for events like this. The make up artists have an ample supply before they get to an event, they would never order this way.
I can see how this can fool a new seller, but anyone with business instinct would know it is never going to be that easy.
Good going for catching this before it cost you dearly, I have read similar reports here and the sellers fell for it.
If I recall..it wasn't about the product..but the scam. They would send you over payment and request you deposit the bogus check (which most banks will clear in one day..why? I do not know ask the bank, maybe they get fees?). Now the scammers will tell you to deduct the price of the order, and take an extra hundred or so for your "trouble", and to Western Union/money gram the difference back to them.
When the smoke clears and the bogus check bounces..you are left holding the bag for anything spent against it, what you sent to the scammers, all bank fees incurred, and the product if you sent it out.

Same email but from a different name!

I am a new Avon rep and two days ago received the same email from an Alice Walton in Long Beach, CA. After a few emails back and forth, she told me she would be here Thur. to pick up the products..... the same exact products, the same exact email, different locations. The grammar and "her" hesitance in telling me where in PA she was coming to peaked my suspicion. I searched for the company name online at the better business borough website, and found nothing. I did not want to scare a new customer away so I requested payment first and insisted that I would pay the fees associated with expedited shipping. I haven't heard back from them since I sent that email. I have never been so happy to be untrusting. I DID NOT PLACE THE ORDER!
