On April 26, 2009, I signed my lease and was told once I moved in everything that needed to be fixed inside the apartment would be fixed. However, I was misled. On April 28, 2009 at 2:00am, my apartment was flooded throughout. I had just moved in so all my belongings were still on the floor not put up yet. My bed, clothes, furniture, rug, etc were soaked.

I made a phone call that night to let maintenance know about the flood. They showed up at around 6am and said that there was nothing that could be done at that time. Later on that morning, I went to the leasing office to make a complaint. I asked if they were going to replace anything in the apartment that got wet. They asked if I had insurance. I asked what my insurance had to do with the flood.

Later on that morning, I returned from taking my girlfriend to work and found carpet cleaners inside my apartment cleaning the carpet. TJ from the leasing office told me that she would reimburse me some of the electric bill and pay for the clothes I had to take to the cleaners. She reimbursed me for the clothes being cleaned, but not for the electric bill. The carpet cleaners used 2 big motors and 4 motor fans inside our apartment running constantly with the a/c fixed on 50 degrees continuously for 4 days using our electric.

A week later, I found out that I didn't have a mailbox. The door to the mailbox was off. TJ said that she would be fixing the mailbox within a week. It didn't get done. After that, she said it would take another 2 weeks because they had to put an order in. When the 2 weeks was up, I went to see if it was fixed. She said no. It finally got fixed after 35 days.

I have also filled out the checklist for the things in the apartment that need to be fixed. The cabinets in the kitchen needed to be replaced as they are rotted and warped. There were mold stains inside the kitchen. There are cracks in the ceiling from water damage. I asked them to replace it, they did not. There's mold around the AC unit. I have asked for a replacement for the AC filter which I never received. There is a shortage in the light switch in the dining room. I am scared to turn it off and on because it sparks. The front door does not close properly. In order to close it, you need to brace your body on it or jerk it hard depending on whether you are inside or outside. A maintenance worker came and "fixed" that, but it is still hard to close.

The first week in June, the residents above us overflowed their toilet and it leaked into our bathroom and the hallway. I don't know if they did anything about the leak upstairs.

I am tired of going to the office to make complaints and nothing is being fixed. I want to get out of my lease because the apartment is full of mold scent which is bad for our health. I cannot stay here and live like this.

I need someone from the office to come and see the condition that this apartment is in. I also have photos to show proof that the things I have complained about are still not fixed.

I have asked them for a transfer into another apartment inside Bellagio and they gave me the ok. They did not let me move in because I did not pay the rent for July. I did not know that I have to pay rent for the month of July before I got transferred to another unit. So, they put an eviction notice on my door. So what is my right? I have been filing all these complaints since day one and nothing is being fixed. Even if I had paid the rent, I still haven't seen the unit they were going to put me in. So I don't even know if it was one I wanted or what kind of condition it was in.

I am fed up and unsatisfied with my treatment here as a resident. I am ready to get out of this apartment!!

Bellagio/Mckinley Properties

AUTHOR: dissatisfied tenant of Mckinley inc - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, August 30, 2009

Apparently you did not read the entire complaint on the Bellagio/Mckinley Property story. They are living with MOLD, and they paid for the electricity to clean and dry the carpet using the powerful motors .Also using the  air conditioning system at full blast to keep the mold from spreading more. Do you live or have you ever lived at any of the Mckinley Properties Laura? They are Slumlords. The apartments are falling apart and rotting from old age. I know from experience of having the misfortune of renting from Mckinley properties. You should see Monterey Lakes Apt. they are just as decrepitated. Maybe you should consider residing there, and then give us your opinion.

The landlord is not responsible for your personal items. He was asking about insurance because the landlord has insurance on the buildings.. not one's personal items. That is why you purchase rental insurance to cover your things.
