Benchmark Property Management Plan on losing your rental deposit as soon as you give it to Benchmark. Scammers Tallahassee, Florida

Please heed my advice and do not ever rent a property from Benchmark Properties.  If you do will will certainly lose all, part and even more than your original deposit. 

They have a process in which they charge you for things that are extremely questionable or untrue knowing that most of their tenants are college students who can't feasibly come back to Tallahassee to defend themselves in small claims court as the time and aggravation is not worth it.

They excessivly charge for things that they never do in fact repair and even state that they don't profit from retaining deposited funds.  We were charged $850 (we talked to one of their hired contractors who said he charges $400 to repaint) to repaint a small apartment because they stated that we touched up the apartment with non approved paint.  As it turns out we went back and asked the new renters if we could inspect Benchmark's repairs only to find out they never did repaint the apartment.  They also charged us for screens that were never in the windows to begin with (our fault for not documenting on checklist - first time renters) and when we went back to see the apartment after the new renters had been in the building for 6 months, the screens had not been replaced.  I guess they will try to rip these tenants off as well.  Not so, because we informed them of the games.

Please take this advice seriously if you are even considering doing a transaction with Benchmark Properties.  You will regret it if you do.
