The Berkeley Ergonomics coil mattresses contain a lot of synthetic Polypropylene in case the dealers and sales people forget to mention it.

The synthetic Polypropylene covers all the springs in the mattress so it is not a small amount. Just keep it in mind as it can be ‘confusing’ with all the “Natural Mattress” claims.

When I found out that my Berkeley Ergonomics coil mattress contained synthetic Polypropylene I checked all the web sites of the Berkeley Ergo dealers and saw that none of them listed the synthetic Polypropylene even though they listed and described all the other components often in great detail.

As of today some of the dealers have added the synthetic Polypropylene someplace on their web sites. Sometimes however, you have to search to find it as it may not be listed with the other components in the mattress descriptions for easy view of the reader. It can be on a different page or in small print.

In terms of the comfort and performance of my Berkeley coil bed, I HATE IT. Here are some reasons why in no particular order.

1. It is NOT sturdy or durable.  No way could I let a child jump up and down on it like we did when we were kids.  The bed seems FAR to fragile. I feel like I have to 'baby it'.

2.  The bed is HOT even though the sales man told me it would not be. I think the VERY thick quilting on top & wool are the cause.

3. When I sit on the edge of the bed I sink WAY down.  I think its because there are not many layers of product, under tension providing strength, but I don’t know for sure.

4. The very THICK quilted top of my Berkeley Ergonomic bed is SO thick I can’t feel the sensation of the latex at all (and like mentioned, I think this thick quilting is the cause of the heat too). This VERY thick quilting is one of the things I hate most about the bed.

I remember the top fabric on another manufactures bed (that I should have bought, that I won’t mention here but will disclose through private messaging) being NON QUILTED, cotton KNIT so the fabric would ‘give’ with your every move, and you could feel the bouncy, rubbery, supportive, springy feel of the latexMy Berkeley Ergonomics bed does not have any of these characteristics. It has no latex sensation at all.

I highly recommend anyone shopping for a new bed to make sure and try beds with NON QUILTED, stretchy top fabrics.  I think this makes a HUGE difference in comfort.  The next bed I get will have a stretchy top fabric with NO THICK QUILTING. This was a big learning lesson.

5. The thick quilted top of my Berkeley Ergo bed also matted down very quickly. There's no foam within the quilting so once it matts down, it doesn’t puff back up. Other mattresses that I have had that were quilted on the top, had a little foam within the quilting and it always stayed puffed up for the life of the mattress but that is not the case with my Berkeley Ergonomic quilted top.  I will never buy a bed with a quilted top that is absent of foam ever again.

 6.  Just 2" of latex laying loosely over springs is not enough product (or labor) in my opinion.

AUTHOR: Berkeley Ergonomics - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 07, 2017

This is not a real consumer complaint but one of 84 fake reviews made by a paid troll over the last two years. The same or very similar fake postings have appeared on numerous review platforms, a special website, blog and facebook pages.

It started in late 2014 when a person pretending to be a consumer sent us anonymous letters, reported us to the FTC for misleading marketing claims and harassed our dealers with fake phone calls and emails. After the FTC inspector got suspicious and asked for proof that they were indeed a consumer, they suddenly went away until resuming their campaign in April 2016.

Fake reviews do a disservice to consumers who want to learn from other consumer’s real experiences. We strive to operate a business successfully with no compromises on truth, ethics, integrity and fairness. It appears that not all our competitors are inspired by the same values.
