BerkelyCare Travel Insurance Rip off Jericho New York

I purchased BerkelyCare travel insurance on Sept. 24, 2008, which was supposed to cover me in the event of illness, injury, pre-exisiting conditions, travel disability, death of a family member etc. The cost of the travel insurance was added to the total cost of my trip per my travel agent. I was in the process of having physical therapy on my right elbow for a previous injury. My trip was scheduled for May 1, 2009. On January 27, 2009 it was determined that I needed to have elbow surgery, as the physical therapy worsened my condition. I cancelled my trip on February 20, 2009 and promptly submitted a claim to BerkelyCare. I was disabled from travel until May 16, 2009. My claim was denied on the basis of my condition being pre-exisiting. I resubmitted my claim and again it was denied on the basis that at no time did my prior condition improve, then begin to worsen. They have altered their initial reason for denial of my claim which just goes to show what a scam the purchase of their travel insurance really is. They have refused to reimburse me the monies that I have invested in the trip. According to their policy, my claim is 100% reimburseable except for the cost of the insurance. So, I purchased travel insurance, abided by the guidelines of the policy and they refuse to reimburse me. BerkelyCare travel insurance is a rip off! Please do not use this company if you schedule a vacation and want to invest in travel insurance to cover you, in the event that you cannot take your trip. Please be sure to ask your travel agent whether they use BerkelyCare for travel insurance, before you sign or agree to anything! I don't know about other travel insurance companies, but you should NOT do business with BerkelyCare.
