I've been out of work for over a year now and have had absolutely no luck whatsoever. I was at an extremely low point when, out of desperation, I contacted the local Haldane office because they advertised that, through them, my situation would change.

I believed the claims that people with my education in my profession would have a better chance after signing on with the firm. Big mistake, as it turns out. (What "key decision makers"?)

My first advisor was sacked due to a "business decision". I'm beginning to suspect it might have been because he actually knew what was going on with my profession and even showed some genuine initiative in order to help me.

His successor sounded like an Oprah Winfrey disciple, spouting aphorisms and soothing language more appropriate for a Tony Robbins lecture. She showed no initiative whatsoever and gave me only one real job lead after I voiced my misgivings about the Haldane method.

The turning point with her came when she blamed *me* for not getting lots of referrals, citing "negativity" as the cause. That was before she began insulting and belittling me ("challenging" me, she called it--most people would call it being rude).

Later, I called the complaint line and eventually got another advisor. We haven't had enough dealings for me to make up my mind about him, but, already, he doesn't answer my e-mail messages in a timely manner. It doesn't look promising.

So, what did I get after 6 months with Haldane and spending over $4500? Not a lot. Oh, I now have a nice shiny 3-ring binder, but a rather expensive one, as well as a CD recording of a dreary "success" speech. I could have bought a few books for a lot less money and would have been just as well off. As it turned out, I'm doing all the legwork and research myself, so what on earth are they doing to earn the fee?

I wish I'd known about this website. I could have saved my cash, invested it in some decent stock, and would have actually *made* money with it. Even if I'd bought worthless stock, I could have claimed the loss on a future income tax return.

Bernard Haldane Associates are the epitome of the emperor having no clothes on.
