#3 Consumer Suggestion
Go back to the fine print of the agreement when you got the card...

Perhaps either they're not making any money off you because you pay it off in full, or perhaps they feel that you are heading towards a problem based on your outstanding balance to credit line percentages across the board.
I have heard about credit lines being lower or even closed because of high balances on other cards; not sure what Congress will do about it. I know they are holding hearings but the credit card companies pulled a stunt at the last minute by stating they couldn't discuss specifics without having permission from the account holders who complained...and the permission was too overbroad.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds
have you called HSBC?

(i work for geek squad/best buy .. not HSBC)
Obvious question... have you called the credit card company?
the first email states that ... YOU... requested the credit line increase.. obviously if you didn't request then someone pretending to be you did.. this is one of the signs of possible identity theft.. or a mixup on the banks end.
time to call the bank, run a new credit report with all 3 agencies.. specifically looking at who is making inquiries into new lines of credit.

This makes no sense at all. I have never been late or missed paying any of my bills. My credit score is 704.
Any constructive advice?
