Best Buy - Best Buy Corporate Offices ripoff worthless cell phone service plan covers normal wear & tear but they scam you by choosing to call it abused so its not covered Richfield Minnesota

When I purchase my new cell phone at BEST BUY I was pushed into buying their performance service plan. I was told that it covered things not covered by the manufacturer and would extend to 2 years. The phone I have is a motorola T720 (flip phone) which broke at the hinge about 2 months before the service contract was to expire.

When I took it to BEST BUY to have it repaired or replaced under the service plan an employee called the underwriters who determined (sight unseen) that the phone had physical damage and was abused, therefore NOT covered. Everyone at the store was as shocked as I was since my phone looks brand new (I use it only occasionally). I called them back myself, spent 2 hours talking to various managers explaining that a hinge is a stress point and simply wore out, which IS covered by the plan. They insist it's abused and NOT covered.
I wrote a letter to corporate and received a 'blow off' apology stating BEST Buy could do nothing since the underwriters go by their definitions: 'sorry for your inconvenience'

Bottom line- their performance service plans are WORTHLESS!!! They don't care about repeat business. DON'T buy from WORST Buy!!!Ripoff
