DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS!!!

On June 6th 2011 I purchased a brand new Toshiba lap top from Best Buy in Irving off of 635.  When I purchased the lap top I also purchased there extended service contract with the understanding that if my computer broke done for any reason I droped it spilt anything on it that it would be covered.  I was also told that if it did brake down that it would be repaired with in 48 hours.  I also purchased there virus protection and some addtional products.  For all of this I paid $1091.70.

My computer through no fault of my own stoped working properly just about 3 weeks later due to the video card going bad.  I had just walked in to my office turned it on and puff the screen was shot.  I took it in to Best Buy and to the Geek Squad counter, where I was told that it would take a maxium of 14 days to get repaired because they had to ship it to Toshiba to be repaired (so much for the 48 hours I was told when I purchsed it).  Over the last month I have been told that I would be getting a call back to let me know what day I could expect my computer back as of yet I have had anyone from Best Buy follow up with what they said they would do.  Its has been one lie after another.

Today I spoke to Manager Bob (if thats his real name) on the phone at the Irving location.  He informed me that he did not care what I was told when I purchased, but since it broke after the 2 wk time period there was nothing he could do and that is was Best Buys policy to let the manfucture handle the issue.  He also refused to give me the contact information of who actually has my computer.  He then hung up the phone on me.

I then called there corporate office and spoke to Otto from customer realtions filed a complaint on Bob, and explained that even tho I gave my money to Best Buy and purchased there extended service contract I still have no computer and that my business is suffering for it.  Again I was given the run around and was told that he would call me back that is now 8 times I have been told that I would be called back with some answers.  It has been one lie after another with Best Buy my next step is to file a law suit against Best Buy not only for the cost of the computer but for damages.

It is now Aug. 15th and my lap top has been in the shop longer then its been with me.

If any attorney would like to join me in suing Best Buy please feel free to contact me.

MY BEST ADVISE IS DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY!!!!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THERE PRODUCTS THEY SELL!!!!!

The root of the problem here is obviously illiteracy

AUTHOR: Southern Chemical and Equipment LLC - (USA)

If you read as bad as you write, they may explain the confusion.

Go back and try the third grade again.

As far as those warranties go, they are useless on something you cannot afford to be without.

I always laugh when the salesperson tries pushing that crap on me.

I always ask, does that plan include local repair and same day or next day service? If not, does it offer a loaner? If both  answers are "no" that plan does absolutely nothing for the business customer.

And, those plans on computers are almost half of the original purchase price, so I always say that I'll just save that money and apply it to a new unit when I have a problem, then send the broken one off for factory warranty service, and have a spare, or fix it myself. Much smarter plan for a business user who cannot be without a computer.

Mfr Warranty Issue

AUTHOR: IntheKnow - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 17, 2011

Your "3 year GSBTPP" is 3 years from the date of purchase.  Only physical damage is added in year one, otherwise, any malfunction, as others have posted, goes to Toshiba under warranty.  The BB store has ZERO to do with any repair.   At some point you are bound to get screwed.  Go through Toshiba authorized service directly and get a pro-rated refund on the plan.

If you were "told" nefarious stories by salespeople, then shame on you.  Why in the world would you listen to anyone other than an attorney for BBY?  The voluminous posts on this website tell it all.

No one from Best Buy told you that your laptop would be repaired in 48 hours, you just made that up. GS does not repair laptops @ the store and it would take more than 2 days just to ship it to the repair facility. If you are still within the manufacturers warranty period (which you are) your best bet is to call Toshiba yourself and get an RMA then send it directly to them. Your turnaround time will be much faster and they will mail it directly to your home so you don't even have to go to the store.

As someone else pointed out earlier, your service plan picks up after the manufacturers warranty runs out.

P.S. Unless you bought the additional accident policy your laptop will not be covered if you drop it or spill something on it (even then it's up to the discretion of Best Buy whether or not they will cover it). You better find your receipt and find out exactly what you paid for.

P.S.S. NO attorney is going to rescue you on this issue, just get your laptop back and deal with it yourself.

Tips for you...

You need to let them send it off to Toshiba. You got a lemon. For that price I wonder if it was new? You can rent one to keep you going quite easily. You can get more flies with sugar than vinegar. Use the spell checker!

This falls under manufacturers warranty

You had the computer less than a year. The extended warranty has not even started yet. They want to ship it back to Toshiba so that it can get fixed under the Toshiba warranty.

You have no grounds to sue Best Buy for anything. Just give them the darn laptop and see if they can get you a loaner or something if it is that critical that you have to use it.
