I was interested in purchasing a laptop and after conducting research on computers in various stores I found out about rebates through Best Buy and a certain manufacturer. I purchased a laptop computer through BestBuy.com since they did not have the model in store.

The Best Buy rebate stated "$100 notebook rebate". I submitted my rebate to Best Buy and the manufacturer. I received the manufacturer rebate promptly, but was having difficulty with the Best Buy Rebate Center.

They told me that the notebook we purchased was not a "participating notebook". However, I told them that their rebate was for "notebooks" so how could there be any non-participating notebooks? The customer service people are like machines, they don't ever listen to what you are saying. They recite the same thing over and over until you just want to sock 'em! "We can only provide you with the terms and conditions of the rebate you submitted. You need to speak to BestBuy.com if you have complaints regarding your rebate offer".

I asked them what the rebate offer I requested was for just to be sure for myself. And they said exactly what I read when I submitted the rebate; "$100 notebook rebate". I then reiterated the issue to them. I purchased a notebook, I submitted the rebate form with all the required documents, what is the problem? They continued to insist that my SKU number did not qualify.

After 3 months of pure frustration, they advised me that the rebate has expired and that they could not honor the rebate anyway. It was misleading for them to advertise their rebate for notebooks when they do not pay out on purchases for notebooks. I paid near $10 for certified mail charges to get nothing in return.
