I had a quote sent to me after a long phone call with a customer service rep which was upcharged 4000 dollars!! based on an "actual assessment" which isn't even remotely close to the original estimate even if the cubic feet estimated is THE EXACT SAME. So then they claim that we need to tip the drivers for their "hard work"
1.) they show up about 3 hours late
2.) they claim you break your original contract for not tipping drivers?
3.) they take multiple smoke breaks and don't wrap any of the furniture or even move glass or fragile objects
4.) they make many attempts to up charge and run a scam on you
5.) they give you a estimated wait time of lets say a week, well more like 3 weeks which is ridiculous
oh wait it gets better so I call Donna the owner and she says for not tipping drivers I breached my contract so they will no longer accept 30% down instead I need to pay them for the whole move up front Cash only after I was told that I could use a credit card or Personal check.
at this point I asked for my money back instead they say no! we will keep your deposit and keep your items in storage until you complete the payment. So i was held hostage to pay for the absolute worst service I have ever received
but wait it still gets better. after they were 2 WEEKS LATE on moving my items they show up at 11pm and dont get done till about 3 am. half of my items were destroyed and I ask the movers how long they have been doing this and they respond with " this is our first move they hired us off of craigslist to do this move" so they have NON EMPLOYED PEOPLE GOING THROUGH MY HOUSE WITH NO MOVING EXPERIENCE AROUND MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER 0 STARS

Yes, But A Lot of This Is On You Too...

This place needs to be shut down by the IRS or BBB. The IRS cannot shut down any company operating legally unless they don't pay their taxes. The BBB is a private, non-governmental, organization who serve their members and sometimes the community. They cannot shut down anybody.
I had a quote sent to me after a long phone call with a customer service rep... You wasted your time talking on the telephone with them. Whatever you were sent (quote, estimate, etc...) is meaningless information - you may as well toss it in the garbage. The only way you can get a binding moving quote is when the mover actually comes to see what needs to be moved. Legit movers come out weeks before your move. Not so legit movers won't, which is what happened to you.
....even if the cubic feet estimated is THE EXACT SAME. You chose a mover who decided to quote you based on cubic feet. Legit movers will provide you a quote in pounds. Cubic foot quotes can be manipulated because the truck can be loosely packed and it then allows the mover to increase price on you. When a quote is done in pounds, the mover can pack a truck any which way they wish and the price cannot be changed.
they take multiple smoke breaks and don't wrap any of the furniture or even move glass or fragile objects Since you're not paying the guys to work by the hour, how many breaks they take is irrelevant. Did your price increase because they took breaks? NO. So why does that even matter at this point?
they give you a estimated wait time of lets say a week, well more like 3 weeks which is ridiculous The estimated wait time for a mover like this depends on whether they have a truck going to your destination. If they do in a week, then a week it is. If 3 weeks, then that's what it is. All movers provide a range of dates they may arrive, but movers like this give themselves a 30 day window.
owner and she says for not tipping drivers I breached my contract so they will no longer accept 30% down instead I need to pay them for the whole move up front Cash only after I was told that I could use a credit card or Personal check. No, actually what happened is when you decided you were not going to tip the drivers, and they reported that back, the owner then saw you as a risk for not paying. Since the 30% down probably happened during your phone call, and that nothing in the phone call carried over to the actual move, the 30% down doesn't apply any longer. I mean the owner probably was able to live with a 30% down provided you tipped the drivers, and the remainder upon delivery, the reality is for movers like this, your contract indicates you need to pay for the entire move before delivery. Oh, and no mover like this will take a personal check or a credit card.
at this point I asked for my money back instead they say no! we will keep your deposit and keep your items in storage until you complete the payment. So i was held hostage to pay for the absolute worst service I have ever received No, there was no way you could have asked for your money back. They performed a service (moving you out of your house) for you - so you expected not to pay for it? REALLY? And no, you and your goods were not held hostage. You accepted the new contract and the movers moved you out of your house. Your responsibility is to complete the contract by paying for your items to be delivered before they are delivered.
...NON EMPLOYED PEOPLE GOING THROUGH MY HOUSE WITH NO MOVING EXPERIENCE AROUND MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE I hate to break this to you, but even legit movers do not employ movers - all the people you will meet in person with a company like this are independent contractors like the one who came to your house. The only employees of a moving company are the office personnel. BTW, it also means the guys who loaded your truck at origin were not employees either.
I could go on, but let's remember you decided to go online to select a mover - instead of researching what happens in an interstate move. Fortunately, there is a moral to this: Moving is not an inexpensive venture. It is far more expensive than an internet company will advertse the service to be. Choosing a mover off of the internet often results in damages to you and your items. What you should have done is this:
1. Select 3 movers local to you at origin
2. Research how and what to look for in an interstate move
3. Have them come out to see what needs to be moved and have them provide you a quote in pounds, not cubic feet.
4. Choose the mover you trust - not who quotes you the cheapest price.
5. If the quotes are more than your budget, then do the move yourself - do not go online to select a mover
6. The law provides even the legit the mover with all of the leverage - you have no leverage, which is why selecting a mover you meet in person and provides you a survey with a quote in pounds is so important. You are providing all of your treasured possessions to a mover - so why would you select someone over the internet to perform that service?
No, I am not an employee of the company.
