I received a promotion from Bev Smith Toyota of Ft. Pierce FL stating if my number matched the one on the promotion, I won one of the prizes listed.

Naturally my number matched. I went to Bev Smith Toyota and was ushered inside to claim my prize. And of course the salesman stayed very close!

My prize was a $1000 Gift Certificate. All I had to do was pay shipping/handling and one-time $5 per order processing fee. Surprise! Each visitor that I saw/heard got the same prize!

When arriving home I went on the internet and viewed the prizes available. What a bunch of cheap stuff! Most could be bought almost anywhere for less than the $5 per order processing fee!

What a "Rip Off"

Needless to say, I won't be going there again, much less shopping for a new Toyota there!

You expected a car dealer to give out $1000 prizes?

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

OK. Pick one up for me.

I do buy a Toy from time to time. Once a dealer offered $4000 off of the MFG window sticker. I found a car there that included the equipment I wanted as "free factory equipment" on its sticker. Bought it for cash. They tried, unsucessfully, to tack the discount back on with interior protection, rust proofing, etc.

They never offered "$4000 off MFG window sticker" again. Next time it was "Up To $4000.off". Notice the difference?

This is life. Get used to it.

Now I write a letter requesting a quote for a very specific model and its factory equipment to the dealership GM. When I go in, there are no games. I do not talk to the F&I guy. We keep it simple and quick. And I do not respond to free prize offers. Nothing in this world is ever really free.
