I was in the store yesterday looking over folding pocket knives. Inside the display case was a Smith and Wesson Model CKG105 Extreme Ops Folder that had a list price of $59.99 and a sale price of $9.99. I purchased two of these knives in the belief I was saving $100 off of the retail price of the knives, and had found a great deal.

When I got home from work today I Googled the knives and discovered that the vast majority of stores including Smith and Wesson itself lists the retail cost of these knives for around $25. I feel that Big 5 Sporting Goods deliberately misrepresented the price on these knives to fool consumers into thinking they were receiving a greater sale savings than they actually were, and deliberately deceiving the customers who purchased these knives.

I believe that Big 5 doesn't put MSRP price tags on their merchandise.  It comes to the pre-priced from the DISTRIBUTOR.  Call them and ask.  I couldn't hurt.  I'm pretty sure Big 5 gets to choose what SALE price the item can go for, but not the MSRP price tag found from the DISTRIBUTOR.  What the manufacturer say's is always a bit off because the DISTRIBUTORS make buys of different contracts. Including: freight price negotiations, discounts based on quantity negotiations, return reimbursement negotiations, Import terriff negotiations (if any...these mostly come from china), promise-to-buy negotiations on other products, etc., etc., etc.
