I recently purchased 4 new tires from Big O Tires. One of the tires completely shredded along the inside edge while I was driving on the freeway. These tires have less than 100 miles on them and are clearly defective.

I took the tire back to Big O and they stated I had to pay full price for a brand new tire! They even told me if I had gotten the flat tire leaving the parking lot the day of purchase I would still have to pay full price.

I have 3 children and really thought tire safety was important. Apparently, even having new tires does not mean that you are safe when they are purchased from Big O Tires.

Tires are one of those weird consumable items. Its ALWAYS in use. It only takes the smallest nick in the wall of the tire and it can shred out on you. They are not scamming you. The moment you left thier shop you were on your own unless you have the warrenty. If you did not get the warrenty, you can not blame BigO. They DID NOT MAKE THE TIRES. What may have been brand new to you was probably refurbs. Or a rebuild neither of which was Big O's responsability. They simply put on the tires YOU chose. You went with tires that were in your budget like anyone would. But you made a poor choice on the brand because of cost. When the warrenty was offered to you, you like many other ppl, immediatly said NO. You were calculating the costs in your head and a warrenty went over your internal budget.

You cant blame Big O tires. The blame has to be put on the manufacturer, they made the tires, they were in control of the quality. Just because you purchase a product doesnt mean the company or business thats selling it has ANY liability. They are simply middlemen between you and in this instance the tire compnay you chose to go with.

Best Bet. DONT BE CHEAP!!!! I understand that your a single mother, but thats no excuse for going cheap on something that is continuosly in motion, in constant use, and ALWAYS in danger of deflating because of trash in the road. Try just changing out two tires at a time. It makes it a bit easier to swallow the price tag. If you didnt pay more then $150 per tire then you probably got refurbs. ALWAYS GET THE WARRENTY!! Warrenties dont always cover EVERYTHING, but they are incredibly useful in situations such as this. With a warrenty you would have atleast gotten them to examine your tire to see what they could do. They would have determined it was probably a defective tire and did right by you. As it stands with no warrenty and the females ability to not only blow a situation out of proportion but thier ability to argue useing circular logic, you probably wont be welcome in that particular shop.

GO AFTER THE MANUFACTURER!!!! Its your only real option, other then posting a "fake" report.
