My name is Kim and my husband and I went into Bill Heard in February of 2006. We were trading in a 1996 Ford Taurus for a cheap, dependable car. The Taurus was a gift from my mother in law that was paid off, and had a clear title. To start off with being honest, our credit is terrible, but we thought we would give it a try because it had alot of milage on it.

The salesman we had had been an employee with Bill Heard for a week. But my husband and I give everyone achance so we went with it. We looked at several cars and of course, the salesman was pushing for the more expensive ones. I told him over and over that our credit was terrible so we needed a cheap car, if financing was available at all. Of all of the cars we looked at we had found a 2004 Ford Sentra with great mileage and I have a fear of bigger cars so this was perfect. He went in to try to work the financing. He came back out and told us the only way we could get a car is if we picked a 2005-2006 with low mileage. That was understandable so we proceeded to look again.

The salesman pointed at a 2005 Nissan Altima, I said absolutely not! For one it was too big, and two it was a $30,000 car. We proceeded to look and founda Kia that was a 2006 model with low mileage and substancially cheaper. The salesman came out again and said it had to be the Altima. I told him we could not afford it and with my past experiences they were going to have us return it in a month anyway. As everyone knows if they have ever dealt with Bill Heard before, this is the way they do business. They will tell you that you can afford it, that you are already financed and not to worry, as well as calling you in 3-4 weeks to tell you to bring it back because they can not finance you.

We left with the Altima and were very upset about it. Due to our credit, the payments were close to $500.00 a month. We had the car for about a month and a half and sure enough they called. They said that the finance company did not do a 72 month loan they only had a 60 month and our income didn't match with the price of the Altima. DUH! I told them that when they were putting us in it. I picked out a 2005 Cavalier and I was very happy because that is what I wanted in the first place.

We went through 2 temp tags, as well as drove on a dealer tag for 2 months. They made us put $1000.00 down for the Altima. When they put us in the Cavalier it had no money down so we asked for our check back because we did a hold check form on that for the Altima because we did not have $1000.00 at the time. When we got the Cavalir we demanded our check back. They said they could not locate our file for the Altima but not to worry they would shred the check.

Just since we have had the Cavalier, the down payment check for the Altima has been deposited to the bank by Bill Heard 32 times. The last time they ran it through was about 2 weeks ago. We have called and been up there so many times I can't even count. Because of all of this they made our first car payment which even then wasn't close to covering the fees they charged from the bank. Some time went by and we thought it was finally over, so we thought!

We recieved a call from an attorney for a collection agency. He said we owed them $1500.00 dollars for the down payment check!!

WHAT?? We went up there and talked to some guy, I can't even remember their names anymore we have spoke to so many people. He said he would call back but we have not heard from him since, nor the collection agency.

We have spoke to an attorney who is ready and able to tackle this. The problem with Bill Heard Chevy is when problems arise, you call to speak with the person you dealt with who knows the situation but they are not longer there. So when you tell the new person your whole situation again, the same thing happens again because that person is not longer there either.

We have gone through a total of 11 different people and that is an approximate number and the problem is still going. They would make a whole lot more sales and more happy customers if they did the proper screening process on new employees, teach them the right way to sell and do things to keep the employees there. Another key point to this not happening is to have the employees TAKE NOTES. If a customer calls with a problem they should take notes so they can fix it, not hand it over to the next guy.

They would have more repeat customers and more revenue if they learned some problem solving skills. I do not believe it has anything to do with the salesman or some finance people. One of the people we went to with this problem was a finance manager who was trying very hard to help us. When we went back he was no longer there either. It turns out that he ended up being the finance guy at another car lot, we were looking at buying a truck for my husband.

We got my husband a truck there and we had never been treated so well by a car dealership ever. We were actually treated like people. There is truly good car dealerships around who will treat you right, Bill Heard unfortunatly NOT one of them.

I would not recommend Bill Heard to anyone due to the fact that they do not have their crap together. It is sad.

You apparently have entirely too much time on your hands

Mike, you apparently have entirely too much time on your hands to be disecting everyone's comments. No one is authorized to judge anyone so grow up!

If you are registered with bad business bureau, you have apparently wrote your own rip off report for something. If not, your reading these with the intention of slamming everything you disagree with. My point is no one knows what someone has truly gone through and if you made your own rip off report about a horror story of your own, you are probably handling the criticism the same.

No, I do not own a car dealership, work for one, work in relation to one. I work for a financial company in NY. Now that we got that settled (I love how everyone who disagrees with someone here is automatically accused of working for the same company) let's look at what you said:

"They said that the finance company did not do a 72 month loan"...

"He went in to try to work the financing. He came back out and told us the only way we could get a car is if we picked a 2005-2006 with low mileage"

***YOu said "LOAN", not "LEASE". Also, speak of "financing" not "LEASE"

"I told him we could not afford it and with my past experiences they were going to have us return it in a month anyway"

***And yet you drove off the lot anyway

All I am saying is you obviously bought a car that you couldn't afford. You don't have even $1,000 to put down on a car, but you expect to swing a $500 monthly payment? for 5 years? You can't even save up $1,000 for a downpayment in a month and a half, so how were you going to save $1000 ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE????

Apparently YOU did not read my story correctly

First of all, to the person who posted this rebuttal you are apparently in the car business. Very typical! Second, maybe you should read a little closer.

We only drove off in this car due to a 72 month lease. We could afford it with that. We were told to return it due to the fact that the finance company only had a 60 month plan. At that point we could not afford it. Maybe I did not make that point clear enough.

But what I did make clear was the fact that we did not have the $1000.00 to put down for the car so proceeded to leave. They said they would hold the check to a certain date. We brought the car back way before the time agreed for the check was to be deposited.

For terms you may be able to understand, the car deal was forfeited. From the mouth of the dealership no refund was neccessary because the date for the check was to be deposited they put us into a new vehicle. With that vehicle, it had no down payment. WE were told by them the check would be shredded.

So what you are telling me is you can come on here and think you know more than they do. Do you own a car dealership? So don't use terminology you do not understand. There was a bad apple in the bunch PERIOD. That person has been fired.

So Mike from New Jersey, case solved Mr. Detective. You may go home now.

What's the deal

You initially went to buy a car knowing that you had poor credit. You then are pointed to a car which in your own words you cannot afford. "The salesman pointed at a 2005 Nissan Altima, I said absolutely not! For one it was too big, and two it was a $30,000 car"

Then you drive off the lot with said expensive car. You then spend the $1000 outstanding from the downpayment of the expensive car on something else and when the check bounces you are upset? The way refunds work from dealerships is they deposit your check and then to refund you they issue you a Checrolet refund check. This is done for auditing purposes and shows the trail of deposit, return, refund.

I still can't get over people like you that try to blame the dealership for talking you into buying a car that's too expensive. You knew it was too expensive, you KNEW they'd call you and ask for it back, you KNEW you couldn't afford it with your credit history, and yet you drove it off the lot. Unreal. Bill Heard should file a rip off report on you for wasting their time
