On August 17, 2013, my husband and myself walked to the Bill Jacobs Tent Sale (it wasn't too far away from where we live), but before we went there, my husband spoke to "Bill" who's in charge of the online sale, and asked about the Kia Rio, he told my husband that that the Kia Rio we saw online would be there, and that they were having a big sale on Kia Rios. When we got there, it was a total different story. We didn't find any Rios, we couldn't find someone to help us, and all we saw were other Kia vehicles. We had to look and seek out someone to help us to locate a Kia Rio. We finally found someone (the other salespeople were either taking care of other customers or just standing around, doing nothing), he was not with the Kia side of Bill Jacobs, but the Chevrolet side.
We asked him if he could help us with finding a Kia Rio, he laughed and said they were busy (but I saw, at least, 12 salespeople standing around), and he would help us. We all walked to the Kia section, and couldn't find a single Kia Rio, we were getting frustrated! He kept trying to sell us a vehicle we didn't want, he was a bit forceful by telling us that they weren't expecting any Kia Rios for at least 2 weeks, and we must put our names on a sheet, because the Kia Rio vehicles went fast, and he took us to the Chevy section and was pushing us to purchase a Chevrolet. We explained that we looked and wanted a Kia Rio and that was it.
I was getting ready to leave, because we were there for over an hour, and my back started to kill me, I told my husband that I wanted to leave and go somewhere else for a car. That's when we were introduced to "Cole", and he told us that he doesn't sell new vehicles just used ones. By this time, I told my husband that this was a waste of time, and let's go. But my husband was looking at the Kia Soul, so we asked to test drive the vehicle to see if we liked this one, because we were NOT going to wait another 2 weeks, when my husband took the weekend off so we can purchase a vehicle( he's an OTR truck driver, and we lost a lot of money). We discussed it thoroughly, and decided that we'd go ahead and get this vehicle.
We told Cole that we were not going through their financial department, because we were already approved by Capital One Auto Finance, and we had a blank check, so we didn't have to put any money down. We told him, emphatically, that we were NOT going to pay sticker price for the vehicle, because that Kia Soul didn't have remote start, or an alarm system on it, plus it didn't have other features that the other Kia Souls had. We kept telling him that we weren't going to pay more than $15,000 for it, and what deal can he give us. He told us that he had to "talk" tohis boss; well, I was watching him the whole time ( my husband was on the phone with an insurance company), Cole was standing infront of some table that had some men sitting there, he had the paperwork in his hands, and he was staring to his right (what he.waslooking at was a mystery to me).
He came back and told us that his boss said that we had to put over $1,100 down, I told him that we were not putting one penny down, when we've got a blank check, and with this, we didn't need to put any money down, and we weren't going to either. He came back and said," how about $500?" I said," no! "He was like they were about to lose a boatload of money. He came back and said that it went ok with his boss, and all we had to do was sign the paperwork, I kept telling that I was NOT paying more than $15,000, he came back and told us that they were already losing $400. So, we drove to the financial department, and spoke with Roberto.
Now, before we even went, we did our homework. We went on truecar.com and kellysbluebook.com and looked up the prices for the Kia Rio and the Kia Soul. We saw that people putting down money between $2,000-$3,000, and they received $2,500-$3,800 off the "Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price," not the "Total Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price." When Roberto was typing up the contract, he was a bit distractive, by telling my husband that he was lucky to have someone like me as a wife, because he told Roberto that I have a very photographic memory and that I cook from scratch. I was watching everything that was going on, Roberto was done typing up the contract, and he knew that we (especially me) were getting agitated sitting there for over anhour, so he talked fast, told us to sign here, here, and there.
I looked and told him where was the discounts we were supposed to get, and he said that they took off $1,600 from the total cost, and they lost $312 with this deal. I called my husband and told him that we were scammed because they added $242.96 to the cost. My husband talked to "Bill" and there was nothing he could do, so my husband called me back and told me that they were NOT going to come down on the price, nor will they throw in the remote start or an alarm system (people that bought the Kua Soul with all the bells and whistles paid less than what we did), and Cole and Bill told my husband that Capital One knows all about the discounts that we received.
When I called them, they had no idea what Cole or Bill were talking about, because only the dealership gives the discounts not Capital One. I told my husband this, and he spoke to the general manager, who was very cold, rude, acted as if Bill Jacobs done no wrong, and told my husband that it was up to us and hung up on my husband (what the general manager didn't know that I was listening to the entire conversation). Our loan officer, Robert, suggested that we go 72 months, the interest would go a little higher, but the payments would drop, and the 1st payment wouldn't be due until the 14th of October. So, we had to break that contract and sign another one.
Either Roberto doesn't listen, or doesn't care, but he did the contract wrong again. Now, the 1st time Roberto said that he knew someone at Capital One that he has a great report with, and asked us if it would be ok with us if he contacts his contact at Capital One to see if he can get us a liwer APR, we told him he can talk to Capital One, but he wasn't going to get a lower APR for us. He asked us that he has other financial institutions that he could try, we told him no and don't even try it, because we were very happy with Capital One. Well, Roberto did go behind our backs and contacted several different lending institutions on our behalf, even after we told him don't do it.
Now, we're getting denied letters ( 2 so far), which is going to have a negative impact on our credit score. I told my husband this, he called and talked to Roberto, and he told my husband that it wouldn't impact our credit rating, and everything was good. I was sitting next to my husband when he was talking to Roberto, I kept telling him that Roberto doesn't know what he was talking about, and what the heck he was thinking by going behind our backs and contacting other financial institutions. Roberto wanted to speak with me, but I wanted nothing to do with him or Bill Jacobs. Don't go to Bill Jacobs, go someplace else!
These people lie to you, they'll scam you, they'll squeeze every red cent they can from you, and they'll go behind your back and do whatever they please, even if you tell them don't, because they don't care, it's not their credit scoretthey're messing with, but I bet dollars to donuts, if someone did this to them, they'll have a lawyer, and sue that dealership. Now, if someone from Bill Jacobs replies to this, I'd still wouldn'tbelieve a word written or verbal, because all they're going to do is blame the customer, and react as if they're in a drama class, and their appalled with the complaint they received. Of course, they're going to stick up for the people involved, but they will have a hard time disputing my memory, and if they try, I'd like to see them try.
