I bought a Model 500 Edenpure heater from Bio-Tech in Canton as a 2007 Christmas gift for my wife.

It lasted two months until the fan died. Communications with Bio-Tech led to our driving to Canton to exchange it. The customer service rep there was very helpful and very courteous, upgrading ours to a refurbished Model 1000.

We brought it home and it, too, died after two months. I contacted the company again and was told to return it for an exchange, which I did in June via UPS.

In the meantime, with warmer weather and other distractions, it slipped my mind until September -- there had been no response from Bio-Tech.

Another contact and they acknowledged that a replacement heater would be on the way, though it might take up to four weeks to act on it. The replacement -- downgraded to a refurbished Model 500 -- finally arrived in early October.

Bottom line: I paid for and received a Model 500 heater. It was faulty and was upgraded -- at Bio-Tech's option -- and replaced. When the replacement failed in only two months, it was returned and finally replaced with a refurbished Model 500. I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't decided to call and find out what was going on.

When the heaters worked, they were great. The problem was that they didn't last.

Bio-Tech's face-to-face customer service is excellent; its e-mail customer service leaves a great deal to be desired.

I'm confused by the "Not the same company" rebuttals. Are there two Bio-Tech/Edenpure/Suarez companies in Canton? That's hard to believe.

EdenPure rebuttal update

AUTHOR: Dee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 29, 2008

To be fair to would-be EdenPure buyers, I need to amend my rebuttal. I bought the 1000 model in Nov 2008. In a few weeks, it turned itself off a couple of times. I emailed the company on Dec 10. Still don't have a response from them and it's now Dec. 29.

Figuring maybe it was overheating because I needed it on High all the time, I lowered the power. Now it won't lower on command. I changed batteries in the remote = still won't change the temp. Pushing the button on the unit doesn't work either. I emailed them again tonight. Shoot, maybe they're programmed to work for two months only (I'm being sarcastic).

Pleased with EdenPURE

AUTHOR: Dee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I bought an EdenPURE heater (their large one) and was treated on the phone like a valued friend. I am totally happy with the performance and my heating bill is less than half what it was before I used this heater (my gas and electric are together on one bill).

The friend who told me about EdenPURE bought two of the smaller heaters and one had a loose fan. He called the company and they sent him a replacement immediately.

I had read that Ripoff thought this heater's ads and the Sun ads were misleading as you could buy quartz heaters for just a few dollars. I did an exhaustive search and found that comparable heaters in size, etc., were $150 to $200 higher than the EdenPURE so I couldn't figure which cheapies you were talking about except small milkbottle-sized ones that could tip over. EdenPURE also has a copper sheet that heats and the fan then blows the heat out into the room. Really impressive as it takes the chill off a room quickly. Thanks for the chance to post a rebuttal.
