My friend and I signed up for the Blacklight Run on suggestion of a running club in February, 2014. We were going to celebrate my 50th birthday and made plans for a special trip to the event. Last week I made nonrefundable hotel reservations. Yesterday I got an e-mail that they are canceling and not giving any refunds. Only a change to another venue TBD in October! I am unavailable in October and we have been planning on this for months!
Total scam operation will not even respond to my e-mails. The run is supposed to be June 14, and they are canceling two weeks before the event!
I now read there website saying that sometimes venues cancel and that they don't give refunds. Clearly this is a scam and they plan on keeping our money and canceling events at will. I would expect to lose my money if I canceled, but can not believe they keep my money when they cancel!
Total ripoff!

Wanted to indicate that they did issue a refund today. Still very inconvenient, and I'm still out the money for my nonrefundable hotel reservation. Appreciate that they did agree to a refund despite the statement on their website, as I would not be able to do a different date. This had been for a special occasion.
