In my 35 years as a landscape contractor, it has been my business to hire and work beside contractors in many trades. I have never experienced such horrible service as I did with Blue Haven! The months i had the displeasure of working with them were the most stressful months of my career.

I hired them to install one pool, and perform an extensive renovation of a second pool. With both pools, they:

Lied about what they were capable of performing during the sales presentations. After signing the contract and collecting a large deposit we were informed of what they were really capable of. 

By contract they were to have a Blue Haven supervisor on site for each phase of the project. I met that so-called supervisor the first day on site. He never showed up again except one day to repair a mistake that was made on the pool wall. He was very angry he had to be there that day and ignored me to the point of literally turning his back to me and refusing to speak to me. That was the only other day he or any Blue Haven employee set foot on site during the 5 months.

The project manager in Blue Havens office would return 1 of every 5 of my calls, no matter how urgent my message was. He absolutely refused to answer any of my questions via email so there was never any diocumentation of their verbal promises that got broken every time.  

Every step of the pool installation was delayed and when I called to confront the project manager asking why the crew had (yet again) not shown up as he had promised, he had poor customer service down to a science. A few times I was told there was a problem with the material delivery being short or damaged. But I know that was a lie because when the subcontractor finally arrived on site weeks later they would tell me what really happened and there was never any resemblance to what Blue Havens project manager had used as the excuse.

Several times, as the only means to resolving a scheduling problem I confronted the project manager about his lying to me. Those times I got yelled at, and threatened he would purposely delay future subs from doing their work because of my attitude.

I had to call and talk to the owner of the company five times. Twice he threatened to "call off the job" because I was "obviously a dissatisfied customer". That followed by, "but we will of course keep the portion of the deposit we feel is right". We both knew the money and time loss would not be reasonable so he / Blue Haven obviously are maintaining the upper hand. During the other conversation with him he was kind and concerned about my issues and I hung up feeling better. Unfortunately, the next day was business as usual... more lies and broken promises. 

Towards the end of the project I stepped in by contacting and coordinating the last two subcontractors directly since I could get better results by leaving Blue Haven's project manager out of it. By speaking directly with those subcontractors I was told how lucky I was to get the pools done so quickly (although we were 6 weeks behind schedule on one pool and 4 months behind on the other) because most of Blue Havens customers are much worse off.

Since weeks before the both pools completion, Blue Haven has not had any communication with either customer. No thank you for your $150,000 of business. No effort to show the customer how to take care of their new pool. No asking them if they are satisfied. Blue haven's routine is apparently to collect that last check and get the hell out.

Since then, I've shared my story in an effort to save others. I've met lots of Blue haven customers and every one has said the same:

Steer clear! Don't trust a word they say! If you have started talking to them... Get your money back and run away as fast as you can!!!

For the record - all of the subcontractors were excellent. Their quality, service and staff were top notch.
