My wife and I did the Bluegreen thing at World Golf Village. When we arrived at the hotel we should have known it was a scam. Four of us and two double beds. I didn't even think they had beds that small in hotels!

The next afternoon we're off to the presentation. There was no way that I was going to spring for a purchase, but my wife wants us to have more vacations. Little did we know that the restrictions that come along with being a Sampler member are even worse than what I've heard about real 'owners'.

If you are tempted remember, no summer months for Sampler members (we understood) and no holidays before or after. The next piece is that what's going to be available is the most expensive (in points) regardless of what is shown. Then, even if it says in the contract that you can reserve 11 months out.. that's really not for Sample members.

So here on 15 March, I can't get anything nearby for anytime that we can actually take vacation. Next, I can't make a reservation for September since that is over 5 months away (the limit for Sampler members)

I contacted the reps at Bluegreen and was told that I can't cancel my sampler membership. Yet what my contract reads is that I can cancel in the first ten days for a full refund, not that I can't cancel after that time.

So, now I'm going to call my bank and cancel payment on that automatic payment. I think the only question I have on the whole Ponzi scheme is when will a state AG put an end to it?!!

Stay away from Bluegreen!

I was reading your report and my comments may not be able to assist you due to the lenght of time but, I would like to point something out to you. First of all, I am not defending Bluegreen. As a matter of fact, I was there (in your position) before. I do not know how it works with "SAMPLER" memberships in regards to cancellations but, after reconsidering my purchase of points, I sent a cancellation notice as stated in the contract and I was released from my obligations. Further, my credit card was credited for the amount charged as a down payment.
Again, I am not defending this company because I do believe that they exert some pressure to make their sales. However, I can say that if there is a cancellation clause in the contract then they have to adhere by it.

Bluegreen Sampler Owner

AUTHOR: Traveling Mark - (U.S.A.)

I did after some pressure sales and many hours of persuasion purchased a Sampler ownership for $895. Like I've read from this site already it sounds like everybody gets offered this when they turn down the regular ownership package. I don't remember if we were told up front or found out from reading the contract that it was invalid for the summer months and not valid around holidays.

So our sampler for 9000 points was good from Sept 07-May 08. We jumped right on it even before our 2 night orientation meeting and took a 6 day, 5 night vacation to Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri. We only used 3900 points for this trip during high red season so we have over half left in our balance to use. Oh, did I mention the stays have to be a minimum of 3 nights? Another catch. The accommodations were real nice except that either because of the time of year or what the resort had 2 resturants, the golf course, and the lazy river closed down.

We were there the first week of October. Even Branson itself seemed less busy and we were told it was off season. So how come high red season for the bluegreen points but off season for the resort amenities and the tourist area of Branson?

So to come to the point we are still up in the air about Bluegreen. We won't buy a regular ownership because I don't like the points and different seasons values. We only had a little trouble with room availability where I had to take a second choice for the nights to stay. Still looking for our second stay and burning up the rest of the points we already paid for and then say good-bye Bluegreen.
