I saved my $$ for months...then it was time to buy an engine. I called JEGS & ordered a 383 stroker motor from "Blueprint" thought it was a good idea/NOT. I put it in a 1969 Nova. It came with a smashed valve cover, but Jegs replaced it. No need to make a warranty claim. It ran great for a week & then it started smoking BAD. It was burning oil 3 quarts to 60 miles. I called Blueprint & they made a claim & told me to replace the pvc & it did not work. After several calls finally they said ship it back. I sent it back & they inspected it & told me abrasive materials had been run thur the motor. The warranty is Voided. I talked to "Ken" he was very rude & said I drove it with out an air cleaner & that it was my fault. They could sell me a new engine for half price but I already purchased an BAD engine from them, it was not my fault. What can I do now? They have now ripped me off. I don't have the time or $$ because I have to work . But I need a motor that works properly. I would say if your looking at buying an engine, Please don't buy an "Blueprint" engine.

air cleaner

running an engine without an air filter for a week would not destroy it unless your in the desert dirt and running a baja race, a street engine can run very long without a filter. i am betting the rings were nstalled upside down or the engine had some sort of metal contact upstream of the valves that created metal shavings to get sucked into the engine.
take them to court and bring a certified mechanic, make them prove you ran it without an air filter and sucked in dirt.
