The FRAUD and DECEPTION in the car business makes me sick! There is NO OTHER AREA OF RETAIL where there are so many different schemes practiced. Additionally, there is NO OTHER franchiser/franchisee arrangement where the franchiser looks the other way when one of THEIR STORES participates in one con-game after another. (For example, one of the best things GM can do is pull the plug on BOGUS BILLY!)

One of the common frauds perpetrated is the FRAUD FEE. The FRAUD FEE works like this: the dealer advertises a partial price for the car and makes up for it by some fee or surcharge. The slime of the car business come up with some official sounding name for this con-game like "dealer fee", "acommidation fee" or "service fee". This con-game continues to exist because the dealers know the average person doesn't have a clue what they're doing when buying a car.

For years, Uncle Bob and Captain Credit have proudly proclaimed they don't do this sort of thing. But lets go to the bottom of page F29 of the 4-29-06 Orlando Sentinnel, just below the phrase "we treat you like family". You'll find the fine print of $989 for "dealer installed Chrysler Mastershield Rust Protection and Under Coating". That's right, $1000!

Run an internet search and you'll see just how great this is! The warranty limits the coverage to just $2000! The loophole which allows dealers to slime their way thru is "normal wear and tear". That's right Honest Bob, claim you don't play the FRAUD FEE con-game but include a $1000 charge for something whether the customer wants it or not! I'm impressed!

Several years ago the Florida Attorney General announced his office was going to begin to crack down on the slime who play the "dealer fee" con-game. What did the slime do? Did they suddenly start operating with integrity and honesty? Nope! They changed the name of the FRAUD FEE to service fee or any of the other bogus, official sounding charges.

The car business, over and over again, choking on the STENCH of their fraud and deception!
