Bonneville Billing and Collections sued me, tripled what I owed on my medical bill and somehow slipped a judgment through the court system against me.  Their actions were despicable and have seriously injured me financially.  Beware of their deceptive business practices.

I am a young entrepreneur and have owned a small consulting business for the past 8 years.  I was in a serious skiing accident in March of 2010 and broke my femur and strained knee ligaments.  I was on crutches for several months, had two major operations and missed quite a bit of time at my job.  Altogether my medical costs were over $80,000 and I had 17 different medical providers that all billed me at the same time.  I contacted all of them to either pay in full or set up a payment arrangement.

Treasure Valley Hospital performed an outpatient surgery to repair the meniscus in my knee after the skiing accident and I owed them $4,000 for the surgery.  I paid half down at the time of the surgery and the second half needed to get paid within the next 90 days.  Since I had 16 other medical providers that I was also paying at the same time, it was extremely difficult to pay this balance off within the 90 day allotted time.

After 90 days (August of 2010) Treasure Valley Hospital assigned my file to Bonneville Billing and Collections and my balance owed was $1,205.  I made a series of small payments to them over the next couple of months and worked my bill down to approximately $900.  In Nov 2010 a representative from Bonneville Billing and Collections called me up and demanded that I pay them the full $900 because she said I wasn’t paying the bill off fast enough.  I let her know I wasn’t able to pay it in full but was happy to continue making monthly payments and would have it paid off in the next 4-6 months.  She said she was going to sue me, have them garnish my wages and she would do everything to “trash my credit.”  I reiterated my request to continue making monthly payments but she refused.

I mailed them a check for $50 but they refused it and returned it to me.  I mailed them another check for $100 but they sent that one back too.  I then received a letter from them stating they were involving their attorney Robert Talboy of Ellsworth, Kallas, Talboy & Defranco, P.L.L.C., and that I also had to pay attorney’s fees in addition to my medical bills.  I called Bonneville Billing and Collections several times to attempt to resolve the issue but now they demanded that I pay them over $1,800.

They delivered a summons to appear in court to my office over the Christmas 2010 holiday.  I was out of town on a business trip and they entered a default judgment against me in Canyon County and they were awarded additional attorney’s fees and court costs.  All told, I had to pay them almost 3 times what I originally owed.

Since the skiing accident I have successfully paid off the entire $80,000 without filing bankruptcy or having any of my other medical bills being dealt with in a similar manner.  Every other medical provider was flexible, wanted to work with me and most importantly, they all got their money.  Bonneville Billing and Collections on the other hand, practiced calumny and deception against me and refused my payments so they could literally triple my medical bill.

I finished paying Bonneville Billing & Collections in April 2011 but the judgment they entered against me will stay on my credit report for the next 7 years as a “Derogatory Item.”  Beware of these lying thieves.
