I was arrested on September 29, 2011 by the Bossier City, LA Police Department and denied access to my medication for my arthritic knees and my diabetes test kit.  There was no intake assessment performed while I was in the custody of the BCPD nor did I see a health care professional when I was transported to the Bossier Parish maximum security facility.

I was denied the proper food( I control my condition with food only and have my doctor's blessing to do so), denied access to my test kit( the officers at both facilities found my test kit in my backpack) and was taunted by one of the BCPD officers with regard to my condition.  I spent more than 48 hours in custody and have had trouble since my release getting my sugar back under control. I was treated in a harsh, uncaring manner and told by the intake officer, "We'll see if you're really diabetic or not if you pass out and we have to take you to the hospital."

I am appalled at the lack of concern for my very real condition and that I was treated like a scumbag.  I would like for the BCPD and the parish maximum facility to have to answer to a judge for their disregard for my condition.

"Withholding life-sustaining meds/food is tantamount to murder."

Of course it is. But that's not what they did. "Life Sustaining" was not the issue. Assuming you were fed a relatively balanced diet, your life wasn't in any danger. Diabetes that is controlled strictly through diet is not a serious life-threatening illness.  Now, if you were insulin-dependent and they withheld the insulin, you'd have a great case. If you were referring to the meds you take for your arthritic knees, again, this is not a life-threatening illness. No one dies of arthritis. Painful, but not life threatening.

Now it comes out....

No where in the original post did you state you were "falsely" arrested. I believe that would've sounded better in the original post than in a reply.

As to this...

"Scumbag, drug-dealing neighbors got a 60-something elderly lady jailed for 48 hours all because they claimed she pointed a gun at them.  She required insulin, was denied her meds, and subsequently died shortly after being released, when the local law enforcement determined she hadn't committed any crime, only complained to 911 about the all night traffic and loud music at the neighbors."

I fail to see how this in any way is connected to you.

In your original post you state you were denied proper food. If you could would you mind defining proper food? Were they types of food not normally found in a maximum security facility?

"We'll see if you're really diabetic or not if you pass out and we have to take you to the hospital."

He said/she said. No validity whatsoever.

"They should held accountable for their inaction and treatment of someone who is a senior citizen and has serious health complications."

I agree. If true they should be held accountable. In my humble opinion however, you have failed, by lack of information, to build a strong enough case here in this forum. If you have more information than you're sharing here it seems you should be speaking to a lawyer and not posting on RipOff Report. I do not know what you stand to gain by that.

Murder?

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Because this case hasn't been adjudicated, I can't say anymore.
-
So when it is adjudicated you of course will update us with all of the details right?

The Bossier parish sheriff's office is at fault for withholding my prescribed meds and refusing to give me food for a diabetic.  Withholding life-sustaining meds/food is tantamount to murder.
-
Perhaps I am wrong but wouldn't murder require you to be dead?  So are you writing this from beyond the grave?

My guess is that you were not really in that much "danger" because after more than 48 hours of not being able to manage your condition you probably would have ended up in the hospital.  So either you did get taken care of..but not when you wanted it, or you are exaggerating your condition.

more on my arrest

To the two individuals who responded to my report:

Have you two ever heard of innocent until PROVEN guilty?  I was arrested on a false complaint.  Because this case hasn't been adjudicated, I can't say anymore.  Anybody can be arrested and held against their will for a number of reasons.  It happens all the time.  You just don't hear much about it because our liberal, drive-by media doesn't deem it newsworthy.  Scumbag, drug-dealing neighbors got a 60-something elderly lady jailed for 48 hours all because they claimed she pointed a gun at them.  She required insulin, was denied her meds, and subsequently died shortly after being released, when the local law enforcement determined she hadn't committed any crime, only complained to 911 about the all night traffic and loud music at the neighbors.

Perhaps

if you were not arrested for something that requires incarceration in a maximum security detention center you would not be having issues with your blood sugar. Remember, kids, CRIME DOESN'T PAY! Nor does it help your blood sugar.

Seriously?

AUTHOR: Josh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 09, 2011

You got arrested and went to maximum-security jail, and you were surprised that you were treated as a scumbag?  If you aren't a scumbag, why were you arrested?  Prisons don't usually provide very good medical care, so I'd say you are lucky you are still alive.  I'm certainly not surprised that correctional officers don't give a crap about you or your condition.  Next time, stay out of jail.
