A family member went to a birthday party there. They were treated rudely and also with the utmost disrespect. Physically upset, my family member came home and informed us of what happened. Her children were ridiculed by the staff and Tom. Tom said, and I quote, that "she (the Mother) came in with an attitude." Never the less, visibly upset, they left before the party ended.
I went to the BOUNCE AROUND and asked to speak to Tom. He said I'm Tom. I asked if he always treats his customers the way my family member was treated. Tom informed me that "it's none of your business how I run my business" and told me to get out or else. I asked or else what.? Tom approached, in by face, and said," if you don't leave, I'll call the police. I replied "go ahead." Tom replied I'm a Lieutenant in the Police Dept. I said great. I also have friends and relatives who were or are in the department. Tom refused to give me his last name. He threatened me in the parking lot. Tom said to leave that it was private property. I informed him that the parking lot was a industrial complex and not his. For a venue that caters to children, it is being run by one of the most cold hearted, rude, and mean people I've ever come across. I simply went to ask why my family was treated the way they were.
Looks from other reports on the internet that this IS NOT the first time this type of thing has happened there. He asked for the Adults to remove they're jewelery, wedding rings, etc, and get this... Put the itmes in they're shoes. Being a so called Police Officer, that doesn't sound like very good advice from an Officer.

We went to a birthday party there recently. The entire staff was RUDE to everyone, really rude. We will never go back again, ever. In stark contrast we went to Pump It Up last week for a party and the staff was FABULOUS with the kids.

I am shocked and saddened to read the treatment recieved from Bounce Around. I own an indoor center in another state and I work very hard at customer service.
In reading some of the complaints, I understand that some practices seem ridiculous to the public but many of the items like having food "catered" (pizza from a delivery place), removing jewelry, belts, etc, everyone watching the safety video and ages or sizes on the inflatables is regulated by our insurance carriers. Our insurance is very, very expensive and as a parent you want to make sure that we keep our insurance just in case it is ever needed.
We do make money on food and drinks. As extra food, goody bags, etc are optional, it allows us to offer a lower price party and lets the consumer decide how much to spend.
I also ask that the party be paid in full prior to the start of the celebration. Once the party is over, it is much easier for my staff to just help the customers load their goodies without worrying about checking out. I have also had two customers leave without paying when we didn't require payment upon arrival.
As for staff, all I can say is that training and supervision is EVERYTHING. I take it as a personal reflection on me and as a result I have fired quite a few!
As for the rude owner, you have a hard time recovering from a bad reputation so I wish him luck! The impersonating an officer thing really bothers me. It is against the law to say you are law enforcement when you aren't. I would find out his last name from his business reports and file a police report. I would not take my children to a place with a gun toting owner!
Good luck. I hope that you experience doesn't taint your view of all family entertainment centers as many of us love our job and take your concerns very seriously.
