Boyd Autobody Took advantage of our daughter when she went in to get an estimate. New Westminster British Columbia

Our daughter went into Boyd to get an estimate on a claim. They asked for her claim number and asked her to sign something.

This is her first claim and was unfamiliar with the procedure and trusted they knew what they were doing.

She was told it would take a couple of days and she went to another place for and estimate and it only took not even an hour, so she decided to go with the second place.

Boyd called her a couple of days later to make an appointment to drop the car off and she told them she went with someone else.

When the other place went to put the claim through, there was a freeze on the claim because Boyd had already put the claim through without even starting on the car or even giving an estimate or an appointment. Now everything is screwed up with ICBC. Because of Boyd's decision to go ahead with the claim, this has put a delay on the repair on our daughters car from the other autobody shop doing the work. And because of their actions my husband had to take time of work to try and sort out a losing battle with ICBC.

I am really stressing that this Boyd location should be investigated, because according to ICBC, claim numbers and signatures are not required for an estimate.

I feel that our daughter was taken advantage of because of her age and her lack of knowledge. We are extremely livid with the way she was treated, not to mention that they did not get permission to start the claim.

I hope that there is something that we can do about this. If not, I hope that this will get around, not to sign anything and please avoid going to that location. Boyd Autobody, New Westminster on Third Ave. They cannot be trusted and will take advantage of your children.
