Bought a 2016 (new) Sukuki outboard from Lance, owner, Boyz-n-Their Toyz Marine services in Cudjoe Key, FL on 6-10-2016. Paid cash. Motor is a 25 hp on a 13' skiff. 6 year warranty on motor from Factory
On Feb 20, 2017 I experienced a power loss while on way BACK from the Marquesas. The fuel was "Brand New" before the trip and was in the Factory 6 gallon tank. The Marquesas is about 22 miles one way from Key West where I left the ramp from that morning. Motor would idle perfect but not power up. I had to idle back to Key West approximently 17 miles. Motor has less than 25 hours on it. No rain, the fuel tank was not opened at anytime that day, and again, the fuel was NEW that morning. There was no water in the tank!
Motor was brought back to dealership for warranty work. 0n 3-8-17 I got the motor back From owner Lance, with a report of water being in the engine. [continued below]....
On 3-26-17 I took the motor out for the first time since getting it back. I made it 2 miles and it starting repeating itself loosing power and now not even idling. I had to call Tow Boat for a tow back to boat ramp.
The next day I talked to Lance at Boyz n Toyz again. He told me he would call me when he had a moment to work on the motor. 2 weeks later I simply dropped off the boat and motor Never getting any call. The boat and motor sat in his lot for over 6 weeks never touched. Finally I heard the motor was fixed again from a waitress at the local restaurant. Lance never called me. I simply went to the marina lot and took my boat home. The boat had a wire harness attached to the battery and was laying in the bottom of boat. Cans of soda and power drinks were also laying in the boat. Once home, the boat had damage on the port side belows the water line. I have pictures documented. I had to fiberglass/cloth/paint the damage before use.
I took the Motor out again and it repeated the same No Power issue.
Took motor to another Mechanic. The internal computer showed that there was NEVER any water in this engine. Small filter was changed because it had debris in it. Motor works fine now.
Wasted 3 months waiting for this motor to be fixed. Never did fix issue. I paid $444.57 for this to be fixed and it never was fixed. Motor Never had water in it which is what I was told and paid for. If ALL the filters had been changed, which is what I supposedly paid for, this would of taken care of the debris and fixed issue.
Warning to people taking their motors to Boyz-N-Toyz for any service work. No Communication, never fixed the issue, lied about problem, took months to finish, and charged over $400 dollars.
