I received a letter from Bravo International Lotto which says its located in the Netherlands, but the letter was postmarked from Club Prive/VMC in Montreal, Canada.
It said that I was a winner in a sweepstakes and was to receive $85,000 and they enclosed a check endorsed in my name for $1997.00 to help cover the taxes. The check looks good, the paper a little flimsy, but it looks normal. I called the phone number on the check and after 6 rings, a guy picked up and said Yeah, hello? Well, I just hung up. It was definitely not a company.
I went online and saw the other reports of similar scams listed on this website. Obviously mine is the same. I too have a Ticket number listed in black and a File number listed in blue. Similar to others, just different names on the paperwork.
Also, the check listed Steed Media Group in Atlanta, GA and it does not exist. It listed Washington Mutal Bank in GA, but there is not a branch located at the address written on the check.

First of all, Steed Media Group actually does exist, but the information on the check is all incorrect.
The account number on the check used to be a valid account number for Steed Media, but they have since closed that account due to these scams.
