I would also like to comment upon the terrible work that was done by Brian Gokey Painting in early 2004. He wallpapered 8 rooms for me and there is not a single room that does not have rips, tears, unmatched seams, peeling, too many problems too enumerate. However, one of my favorites is the large missing piece behind the refrigerator. Does he think the refrigerator isn't moved?

My dining room and den ceilings were painted and chunks of paint have been peeling off since last year.

Missing jar of quarters, unauthorized and unpaid long distance phone calls, missing bottle of ketchup, elmers glue, sponges!!!

I don't want him any where near my home so it was pointless in bringing him back in to correct the work he did. I am just sorry that I did not take the opportunity to comment in the Kingston Freeman editorials when his relatives placed ads distancing themselves from him.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS

AUTHOR: Patrick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 24, 2006

Consumers residing in Ulster County, NY can take specific steps to protect themselves before hiring a contractor:

1) Call the Ulster County District Attorney's Consumer Fraud Bureau to see how many complaints (if any) have been filed and how they were resolved

2) Check for judgments (especially unsatisfied ones!) on file at the County Clerk's Office

3) Call the building inspector where the contractor is located to see if he is familiar with the contractor's work

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

what about the customer

AUTHOR: Pam - (U.S.A.)

I'm really sorry about the employees of Brian Gokey not getting paid. However, it shouldn't have been taken out on the people who had hired the company and its employees. The mess that is in my house is representative of the company but it's the employees who did the work, made the phone calls, and took items.

As a result of employee dissatisfaction I spent over $5000 for a service that is an embarssment. Whatever your issues are with your employer it is subsequently your reputation and work ethic on the line. Kingston is a small town and names are remembered. As a person in a position to hire staff I will not forget the people's names who worked at my house. There will come a time when the opportunity arises where they may be seeking employment.
