FAOF BRIGHTON LLC Apartment not ready to move in when moving from outter state, delayed 3 days & promised refund for fees incurred, never paid back, refused to acknowledge. Falsely charged for cleaning fees and sent to collections. Newport Beach California

In July of 2012 I made the decision to rent an apartment in Dallas TX and move away from California. Upon checking availability and agreeing sight unseen, that I will pay all required application & holding fees, including the full 6 month lease. The agreement was for August 1st 2012, on 07/06/2015, I sent the checks for fees & lease contract, which were received and cashed. On 07/15/2015 I called in to check that the apartment is ready to move in and they said no problem the apartment was to be vacated that day.
 On 08/01/2015 after staying an additional night at a motel in Arlington TX to make sure I arrive fresh on the 1st, I finally get to the apartment management office, who had me sign the lease first then told me the apartment is being worked on and it will only take 2hrs. to put a new carpet in. The apartment stank, the walls were dirty & full of holes, all the surfaces of the kitchen, sinks & bathtub looked like someone scrapped them on purpose, the only thing new was the carpet. I told them I cannot possibly live in it as is and they told me it would take 3 days to re-do everything (after they had 2 weeks to get it done), I could not possibly be there while they re-varnish & paint, so the Assistant Manager told me to go to a Motel and they will re-imburse me on the receipt later. I agreed to take the loss of my other expenses (including U-Haul trailer) and go to the motel.
 Long story short, after moving in on the 3rd, they had me sign a new lease, saying the old is no longer valid, showing 08/03/2015 as the start date. A week later the Assistant Manager was not there, I was not able to find him ever, the Manager claimed he no longer works with them and that they will not honor his promise. No amount of pleading with the management got me my money back. Upon leaving Brighton LLC at or after the end of the lease, I spent a whole day cleaning the apartment making sure it's all good. They charged me $145.00 for cleaning, after I left and when I refused to pay, they sent it to collections and put a bad mark on my credit (with interest). When the reality was they owed ME money.
