These scums wrongly charged me for car insurance even though i cancelled my policy with them. They're going to send me to collections over $72.00 that i dont owe them. Before i cancelled my policy i bought insurance from another company so i was covered bylaw. They wouldnt let me talk to a manager, they wouldnt give me an explanation, just "pay or go to collections".

BRISTOL WEST'S INSANE PREMIUMS APPLY TO GOOD DRIVERS AS WELL

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 13, 2004

Not just "high risk" drivers. They also have a bad habit of jacking up premiums during the policy, as they did to us. My husband and I both have 27 years driving history of no tickets or accidents, moved less than 1/2 mile from work to a very low crime area, yet our premiums went up $22 a month. When I bought my new SUV and they tried to charge me an insane premium, went to Progressive and pay $166 a month full coverage for TWO vehicles, $10 a month less than Bristol West charged us for one. They still call me and tell me that I owe them and they didn't give me "the right" to cancel. My response? "Click."

Response to J-Denver's statement

AUTHOR: Regena - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 12, 2004

Obviously you do not know anything about collections. If an individual has been sent to a collection agency, they DO NOT have to deal with the collection agency. They can state to the collection agency that they will not work or settle with them them, and the individual has the right to only do so with the original obligee!! That's Federal Law!! So therefore, it is never completely out of the hands of the original billing company!

Never Do Business With These People!!

AUTHOR: Regena - (U.S.A.)

My husband and I renewed our car insurance in Nov. 20, 2003. Our agent, at the time, gave us a new quote with this company. We disclosed all informations to this company, i.e. accidents, ticket, etc. I recieved a letter a few weeks later stating that I owed them and additional $30 fee, due to not disclosing my father-in-law living at our home. I stated that he did not live with us and I signed a reliquishment form stating that. After doing so I was told that the $30 fee would be taken off and I would not owe anything until May 20, 2004.

We recieved a renewal letter from Bristol a few days ago, May 10, 2004. On this renewal it still stated the $30 fee. I called them to go on ahead and pay my 6mo policy fee and to have them re-correct this $30 fee. I was then told that they would not renew my policy, that it had expired on May 3, 2004. I read to them what my copy of the policy stated that it was not to expire until May 20, 2004, and it was purchased on Nov. 20, 2003. They stated then that the fee wasn't for my father-in-law, that it was for a ticket that wasn't disclosed. I told them that I had everything in writing and copies that they had sent and things that I had signed. They still refused to re-instate my insurance.

Then yesterday, May 11, 2004, I recieved a letter dating back to May 4, 2004, with a post mark of May 7, 2004, that I was to pay the $30 fee by May 3, 2004 or my policy would be cancelled on May 3, 2004. How can you know this when these incompetent people don't even contact you with any issues that might arise. The problem laid with the insurance agent, but this company was unwilling to do anything to correct this mistake!

WORD OF ADVICE.... Never do business with this company!!!!!!!!

#1 UPDATE Employee

our clintele are mainly "high risks" clients who have bad driving history

AUTHOR: J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 25, 2003

Pay you bill on time & keep notes.. I work for Bristol West Insurance which is a non-standard car insurance company which means our clintele are mainly "high risks" clients who have bad driving history, been declined by other insurance companies for coverage, lots of DUI charges, etc.

As for cancelation and being charged - PAY YOUR BILL ON TIME and make sure you include you claim # (if necessary for car accidents / theft/ vandalism, etc. ), policy #, etc.

If you policy was canceled, then you should submit such evidence with your pay stub, name of representative, time/date, etc.

Once anything goes to collections (I've worked in collections), its out of the hands of the companies who originally billed you.
